Thanks for the info. However, not much of a discount to be had on this-Sony XBR-75X900F 75" BRAVIA 4K Ultra HD HDR Smart TV: $2,798.00 - Regular Price $3,999.99 save: $1,201.99 (30%)

Regular price on Sony's website states $2799.99. So, minus 30% should get me out the door for less than $2k.

Good point, I guess that's a bad example, I'll swap it out.

I have a love/hate relationship with "deals" and the companies/manufacturers.

Sometimes you can actually find a good one. Most times, it really isn't as good as you think.

For instance, the 77" LG OLED C8 mentioned above is not a deal at all. The new 77" C9 was introduced at $7k.

https://www.lg.com/us/tvs/lg-OLED77C9PUB-oled-4k-tv

This is in part due to the uninformed consumer. Research and price shopping can take a lot of time. And really, not many have time for that.

That's why it's imperative that we have social groups like this to help weed out the good ones and shed light on new ones.

I agree. If a specific item is a particularly good deal I try to isolate that and highlight it. When it's a more general sale like this, it is a game of checking MSRPs and street prices and such.

But... it's actually my bad for not noticing that the final deal price is in the cart, where entering TAXDAY takes off another $700 (10%) on that LG OLED.

I'll edit the post to reflect this... There are actually some scorching deals found in there once the code is applied.

The Denon X3400H Regular Price of $999 is so misleading. $999 was the "Original" Price and hasn't been that price for a very long time. In fact, I paid $599 almost a year ago for mine (5/31/18). So $539 isn't that big of a deal for 2019.

I'm not trying to mislead, I'm just copying and pasting web descriptions, I guess that was the original MSRP right? I'm not vouching for any one particular item there being a great deal, but there are some great deals in there. Regardless, it's 599 bucks on Amazon right now, so if somebody was specifically interested in this model, saving $71 is not nothing.

Or if they live near a Fry's they can get a New Denon X3500H for $399 and save $140 over the X3400H sale price and gain these extra features:

- Able to display volume and INFO menu on all 4k video (including Dolby Vision with Setup screen taking up whole display on black background)
- RESET - Menu setting that restores all settings to factory default (in addition to usual 2 button + power on reset)
- PHONO input (also added as audio input available with <Video Select> feature)
- Airplay 2
- Panel Lock (either all front panel buttons or all but volume)
- Remote Control Lock (when using an IR receiver)
- Web Control (reintroduced after being dropped on all 2016-2017 "H" series models)
- Dialog Level> setting more appropriately relabeled as <Center Level> as it simply adjusts the volume of the center speaker
- Center Level Adjust> (formerly Dialog Level Adjust) and <Subwoofer Level Adjust> can be adjusted on the fly now correctly vs previous models
- Surround Parameter - Panorama
- Detachable WiFi/Bluetooth antennas

In Store Only

I certainly don't feel like wasting even one microsecond more debating that particular AVR. I'll just delete it, if it makes people happy then great. Also thanks for finding the best deal and posting it.

Wow Mark that was the quickest reply I ever got from you

My post was not intended to spark debate - the Fry's deal is in-store only and not everyone lives near a Fry's so the WW sale may be good for members who need to shop online.

Not trying to compete just provide as many options as possibly for the members here

Keep up the Excellent work!

The "deal" on the Focal Elear headphones is not even a deal. The price from many other retailers has dropped to $499 (I bought one) so $699 after a 30% coupon is definitely not a "deal"

Deleted, thank you for pointing that out. There must've been some mistake since the promo code did not apply to that product, but it was listed among the items that should've worked with the code. You are correct in pointing out that $699 is the "regular" street price at this time, with some retailers selling for considerably below that.

I didn't mean you were being misleading, but the information posted...wherever it was from. Yes, the $999 was the original MSRP, but it's been $599 for almost a year now. Manufacturers love showing numbers like this to define a "deal" to manipulate one's emotions into thinking they are getting a better value than they are. In college, I worked at a grocery store. It was so funny when we had Canned Corn ON SALE for $0.99 for 3. Big signs up. We sold so much Corn during those "Sales". A savvy shopper would bend the Sale Tag back to reveal the normal, every day price of $0.33 per can.

Going forward, when possible, I'll use what Amazon/B&H Photo/Best Buy lists it for. In this case I've gotten rid of the "regular price" for all the items for the reasons you mention.

Thank you everybody for the feedback.

Not Mark's or anybody's fault, electronics prices are volatile. On April 19, B&H Photo had the LG C8 77" for about $4500. April 21, it's about $7K.

ugh, 2017 and 2018 the real tax rates for my income bracket went up... I basically did not change my yearly stuff (charity, givings, 401k, etc), and I went from a "nice" $1k-ish refund to a $2.5k to $3.8k owe the IRS.
Yes - I've since changed my withholding so 2019 taxes close to a 0 game, still I pay now more that I used to the "man"

It looks like it's to be found for $2,795. https://www.thetvbar.com/product-p/OLED77C8P.htm

These are electronic items. B&H has some great deals, and some not so great deals. You are right about the pricing. They are always lucrative, no matter where you shop. The thing about electronic items, especially TV's, is that they are all over the place when it comes to pricing. This 2018 model is averaging about 4 Grand, as a rule.

I lost my Mortgage interest deduction that was supposed to be grandfathered in, then they hit me for getting over paid for my ACA health plan and took 790 of the 550 I was still getting back vs the 1500 I got last year. I got a raise half way through last year that was pretty good so I got penalized for doing a good job. So I won't be buying any big toys this year and I certainly went backwards too Lucky I got a OK state refund or I would have been in the hole big time for me. I THINK as long as I don't get another raise this year my withholding will be fine and if I do I'll make it known and adjust my withholding too.
