I heard it only took Fry's a couple of hours to figure their website had a mistake and they took the product page down

But..yes..there was some lucky ones that got this unit as well as some price matches in that time

Thanks to another post here I was able to get the great Fry's deal of $399 (60% off) for the X3500 to replace a X4200 in my second media room - but I discovered that I really missed going from 5.2.4 to 5.2.2 - even with the extra features of the 3 year newer 3500 - which also included the main pre-outs (for my 5-channel external amp) and Audyssey XT32 found on the 4200.

https://www.avsforum.com/forum/122-g...l#post57921014

I was at the 30 day return limit and decided to return the 3500 despite the great deal but before returning it I found this thread and discovered that I miss a even better deal (62.5% off) on the X4500 at Fry's by a day.

When I returned the 3500 at Fry's they asked me if I wanted a store credit or a refund, I told them that I would have taken a store credit as I was returning the 3500 because the 4500 had the features that I really needed but I missed the great sale price from the day before on the 4500 and that I had gotten a great price from them on the 3500.

The manager said if you're willing to accept an open box 4500 with full warranty and 30 day return period then they would give it to me for the previous sale's price of $599 to keep me as a happy customer. I asked to see it before agreeing and everything was still wrapped and in the plastic so I bought it for $599!

Tested it out over the past couple of days and everything is perfect and I have all the new features plus on-board amps of 5.2.4. for a smoking deal - and it was so much quicker than getting the original $399 X3500 deal - and Denon won't be replacing the X4500 with a new model until 2020.

Here's a review from this year of the X4500:

https://www.whathifi.com/reviews/denon-avr-x4500h

I wish everyone could of gotten this great deal and thanks to everyone here that posts these great deals for the community to enjoy!

Congrats! That's also a great price on a $1600 AVR that won't be replaced by Denon until the fall of 2020 - 16 months from now.

I hate that there is no Frys in Tampa.....really want to grab a 4500 but couldn’t get Frys to ship and couldn’t get Best Buy to price match.

Gratz to you guys who got some great deals!

True that I started with Pioneer AJ Speakers and now have Klipsch RP-600M, RP-504C, SPL-150, Airmotiv E1s.. Probably add some in ceiling Atmos now that I have x4500h.

Drives me nuts that they show it as available for shipment on their site only to say "out of stock" after you've gone through the entire checkout process. Really weird that they're going through so much trouble to clear these out when Denon isn't releasing a replacement this year.

Showed as being shippable this AM for the $849 price. I pulled the trigger and received a UPS tracking number, so fingers crossed it actually goes through. Still showing as out of stock at most stores. Wondering if I'll get the call saying they actually only have open box units available (which is what happened a month ago).

The "open box" call is certainly possible and has happened frequently based on past posts.

Used best buy online to price match and pick up in store on Friday even though none of the local Frys stores had in stock in Dallas. YMMV

Amazon Has the Denon X6500H for $ 2199. I heard horror stories about the Amazon returning items to them, they keep track of things you return & can ban you from the store for too many returns .

Best Buy has the worst return policy but Costco surely spoiled me. Costco's return policy rocks .

LG OLED C8 65 2018 , LG SL 10YG SoundBar. HT: JVC RS2000, Studio Tek 130 1.3 Gain Sscreen, Apple TV4k, Def Tech 9080/9060 Dolby Atmos Speakers, Denon X6500H , Oppo203 and a nagging wife.

I guess 4th time was the charm =)

I guess it also helps that now Frys shows the sale price on the receiver page instead of having to sign in before seeing the sale price as it was the first 3 times I tried to get BB to price match online.

Oh well, 4500h on the way!

At $599 or at $850?

I was happy just to get the $849. There's nothing in my neck of the woods that would come close to that price, let alone the additional 20% off people get in-store at Fry's.

I purchased the 4400 at $799 at Newegg with a $75 gift card given to me additionally.

Just be aware Newegg, subdealers are not usually authorized dealers and you don't get the full Denon warranty.

Sure enough, at 10 PM last night I got the call saying they were unable to fill my order (which had been placed 16 hours earlier) but would cut me a great deal on an open box. I'd spent 10 minutes on hold mid-day to confirm my billing information too. Check this AM at 8 AM and sure enough they're showing in-stock online. Placed the order again just to see what happens. I'll give their customer service a call once they open and see if they'll give me any sort of explanation.

Wow, yeah they are showing up as shipping now. Oh well, BB priced matched so I am good and if for some reason this doesn't work out for you again, try BB!
