This unit comes on sale often at this price.

Not sure why it is priced so much lower than sb1000 and sb2000.

Does anyone know?

If i had to guess its to help up sales but also not compete with the new line up. Still a good price/ value for the money.

I think what happens is they make a batch every year for Christmas. It's so cheap because all the R & D and whatever equipment they use has long been paid for. I had 4 for a while, I liked them a lot, ultimately replaced them with bigger subwoofers with more power and extension, but I definitely enjoyed them while I had them.

I bought one when it went on sale last year. Decent sub, and small, only 14x14". I use it for watching tv. I've tried it on music and it was pretty good. It won't play as low or loud as most ported 12" subs but it has decent detail IMO.

Yamaha A-S1000 Int. Amp - Polk LSiM705's - Denon DCD-1500 - Marantz TT42 - Emo XDA-2 DAC - (WWG1WGA)
Multi-Channel: Yamaha RX-A2070 - Polk LSiM706c Center - Emo ERD-1 Surrounds

I think SVS needs a refresher course in math.

Yes. I have been wondering about this. NSD is frequently on sale at $399.

What is missing in SB 12 NSD that makes is so much less expensive than SV1000 or SB2000?

Is it the DSP quality or the power rating or the finish or is it something else?

What do we lose in sound quality in 12 NSD compared to these other more expensing SVS subs?

It's an older design. I don't remember the exact numbers, but the SB2000 has about 3 db more headroom in the mid bass. I think they are similar at the lower end, but don't recall for sure, but the SB2000 has lower extension.
Like I said, I'm pretty sure they make one batch a year. SVS sells out of their own allotment pretty quickly every year, but it's usually available at resellers for about 6 months before it sells out, then the cycle starts again next Christmas'ish. The PB12-NSD sells out faster than the SZb12-NSD every year.

I had a pair of these for a while, but got them replaced by a single KEF Kube 10b, which blew them both out of the water in SQ. Got a second Kube shortly after. SB12 lacks some punch, especially at low volumes. Even though SB12 was originally positioned between SB1000 and SB2000, IMHO, it loses to them both. YMMV.

1. Samsung UN55MU7000, Yamaha A2070, KEF R700, R200c, 2x Kube 10b
2. Panasonic 50" (plasma), Yamaha A550, KEF R300s, Q100s, Kube 12b.

The SB12 was the predecessor of the SB2000, they just still whip a batch up each year for Black Friday.

I have two of these in a bedroom. More than enough for music or movies in a duplex sized bedroom, Just one is pretty good.
I have two PSA 18 in my living room. Because of room gain I’m not missing much if anything with the little sealed SVS in the bedroom.
