OK,

I ordered a pair of LSiM707's and the 706c. I have JBL LS80's and the LS Center and I don't dislike them. Not at all. Not even a little bit. I guess this is just a case of severe upgradeitis. The JBL's for home theater are incredibly dynamic. For music listening they don't do anything wrong, they're just Meh... I originally saw this Polk deal and couldn't get it out of my head. $5200 worth of speakers for $1400 so away we go!

Most likely they are arriving on my birthday and I can't wait to check them out.

Looks like it has ended again

I checked it about 1 hour ago and the links worked and the prices were as listed above.

Unfortunately I got busy and when I rechecked it a few minutes ago the links no longer work and the prices on the website are back to normal.

maybe they will bring it back 1 more time.

Now that the price has gone up again on the Klipsch RP-600M ($549 -> $629), I'm looking at alternatives. Would a pair of 703s work well for relative nearfield listening at a large computer desk?

The 702's are a pretty large bookshelf so make sure to measure. They would probably work good but not designed for near field. Some of the active studio monitors are designed for near field and sound great. But they are powered so not sure if you want something like that.

I'm still running some Polk Monitor 70s with a CS2 for my LCR, as well as Monitor 40s for my surrounds. (bought these almost 10yr ago now) How big of an upgrade would these be? I'm still living in an apartment so I'm more interested in clarity & quality over booming room shaking volume. Center channel clarity is my biggest complaint right now and the CS2 was already much better than the previous HTIB Sony/Kenwood sets I've used in the past.

Edit: I should mention I mostly do movies / TV (home theater), some music but not a lot to be honest.

You might get better answers in the Polk thread as some might have had the speakers you do and could comment.

https://www.avsforum.com/forum/89-sp...l#post58676464

The 706C center should be better as it is a 3 way design but is big so check measurements. They are very nice speakers for the price and quality of sound is there for sure.

I knew the Polk thread guys would come through. Check the thread out for what one person said moving from Monitor line to LSiM 703's

Looks like the Polk deals are back on again. This sale is like a light bulb, on again, off again! Get em while they last.

I am so on the fence about getting the 702f/x surrounds. I now have the 703 book shelves for mains and the 704c for center. Would like to have a match all the way around, but these surrounds are huge (and heavy). Much bigger than my Venturi DV5 surrounds. Decisions, decisions. Price is hard to ignore.

I hear you on that price. If these speakers were any brand other than Polk I think they'd be gone by now! The sound quality is there, and the quality of the veneer is awesome.

I was looking at the 702 surrounds, but I have some very nice sounding Emotiva ERD-1 surrounds that are di/bi-pole capable. I've had them 9-10 years now so they've kind of grown on me, and on the walls! They are a matte black finish and certainly don't look anything like the cherry finish of the Polks, but I think I'll just keep them.

Don't hesitate too long, at some point Adorama will run out of them.

My problem is they’re not running out of them fast enough. I can only make excuses for so long.

I'm enjoying these, but I've run into a weird issue. My 707s seem to be producing a yellow powder around the "hersheys kiss" ports on the bottom. It looks almost like sawdust. Is this normal from breaking in the speakers?

Assuming it is a reasonably small amount, it probably is sawdust being blown out of the cabinet.

So far I’ve been living with these speakers in my theatre area for about three months...love them for music! They really shine here, but I find myself cranking the crap out of them to be Semi dynamic for movies. I find myself wanting to switch them out for my more dynamic / easier to drive motion LX16’s...No joke these speakers need power! A lot! I’ll probably look into getting an external amp of some sort soon...

Good Lord! $399 per pair? Free shipping too? Why is anyone not buying these very good (and beautiful) speakers? My 705's are fantastic. Better than my Salk Song Towers! And that takes some doing!

$399 each but still an amazing deal.

I bought the 707's, a 706, and the 702 surrounds from Adorama for a song. Can't imagine how mad I would be if I paid full price then saw these deals later.

Thanks for the correction, it is $399 each. Stupid good deal, free shipping and these babies aren't lightweights at over 80 pounds each.

Pulled the Trigger

Pulled the trigger on the 703's for $449. Almost bought the KEF Q150 but the forum god's told me that these would be better!

added a 704c from Amazon for $300 - $70 for using their credit card. I havent bought AV equipment in years but I feel like I got a decent deal. You?
