Why wouldn’t he want 2.1 cables now especially if they’re going in the ceiling or in the floor and can’t easily be fished out later?

As for this, I bought 50 ft. and 60 ft. fiber HDMI cables from Amazon that were cheaper than Monoprice and work just fine. I would post a link but that would get me banned.

I have the 50ft version, it does NOT support ARC. I contacted monoprice about it and they basically shrugged their shoulders. False advertisement for sure

50 footer is more expensive than 75, is that correct?

I purchased the "Monoprice SlimRun AV Dynamic HDR Ultra High Speed HDMI Cable - [email protected], Dynamic HDR, 48Gbps, Fiber Optic, eARC, AOC, YCbCr 4:4:4, 75ft, Black" (product number 38630)

I'm having issues getting just 1080p to work consistently, so I'm skeptical about 8k or even 4k support cliams. I haven't had time to troubleshoot it thoroughly, but I expect HDMI cables to "just work" and this one doesn't. So I'm going to have to pull this out and start testing. Be sure you don't make the same mistake I did.

No question, an HDMI cable needs to simply work. But it sounds to me like maybe you have a defective product?

I have not tried that 8K cable yet, but I am using this 4K SlimRun product in my system right now (those are my photos in the post) zero issues. It's a 50-foot run going from a Denon AVR X8500H to a Sony VPL-VW295ES projector.

75' is tempting as I could run it around the baseboard to my projector... I currently have a 30' Select 18gbps running across the floor, which replaced a 25' Monoprice HDMI 1.3 cable that was run (stapled) through the ceiling when the house was built in '06 and I've not found an easy/elegant way to run a new one through the ceiling (pitched roof, projector on the opposite side of the crown as AVR/sources).

Glad I could save you a headache. If you do find some that works with eARC, please let me know.
