LG is unique in offering built-in LUT calibration for consumer TVs which are on the market and which you can buy today.

Sony, Panasonic, Philips, TCL, Vizio, Hisense, Sharp, Westinghouse, Insignia and Samsung do not offer internal LUT calibration.

If you're referring to the Samsung Q9FN it has no LUT. I've done SDR but no HDR although now available.

Now that I was able to use Autocal for the Sony, I can see there are many pro's and con's to LG's implementation vs Sony's and Samsung's for the professional calibrator and enthusiast regardless of the fact that they were built for different audiences. We should create a thread just for this topic.

It's available for the Q9FN in the last release. Not sure how perfected since I haven't used it ...

I have a question / observation on the CMS / Gamut AutoCal. It appears that a main goal of the calibration is to get the luminance to 0, in spite of the delta Es with and without luminance error both getting higher and higher, I mean over 4 or 5, which has me scratching my head. There must be some reasoning behind this?

From the amount of requests and a lack of response I imagine that CalMAN are not listening but in any case another +1 for CalMAN to support TEDDS disk

Traditionally, when calibrating the color decoder/CMS, it's been held that the most important aspect for primary colors is luminance (remember that there are specific target luminance ratios of the primary colors to make D65 White) , with hue and saturation secondary. For the secondary colors, it's hue, with luminance and saturation secondary. If the autocal is indeed trying to drive luminance to lowest dE for both primaries and secondaries, I hadn't noticed it and have no explanation.

Thanks for the explanation, RR. I'll check the behavior between primaries & secondaries. But wouldn't that preference be reflected in the delta E amount?

I'm not certain. But with saturation, luminance, and hue interlinked as they are in displays, all you can reasonably do is shoot for the main targets and let the others fall where they may. Using custom calculations to the dE targets for secondary aspects to make those look better might be an exercise in futility.

Thank you for your reply, as I cant find any sources of this news, sorry for looping the question.

I am now using AccuPel 6000 and think about to purchase

Note: Windows 10 October 2018 now downloading and upgrading.

Apparently. it's selective. The first laptop, the upgrade popped up right away. and upgraded. The second laptop only updated the April 2018 version. Transferred the update file from the first laptop, and did the new update.
Third laptop, had to transfer the update file as well.

The name of the upgrade file is Windows10Upgrade9252.exe (For 64 Bit)

As I mentioned, the updates are selective.
Some will update you to Windows 10 October 2018, others will say no updates available, or update the older Windows 10 April 2018.
Note: at the end of the new update, be prepared for a series of questions as to how much you want MS to control your life and spy on you.

Windows 10 October 2018 Bug issues.

Specs: Google is used by approximately 60% of computer users, versus 4% for those using Edge. Microsoft trying to catch up - BUT - just shot themselves in the foot.: (Personally, I don't use Edge - too bloated!)
Before upgrading to the current October 2018 version, or have already installed, read the following for fixes. (Or wait until a stable version is produced.)
Note: Current Windows 10 October 2018 ISO downloads are blocked on the Windows websites, until a fix is implemented.

Have not noticed any of the bugs on any of my upgrade CPUs. (My system has the newer Beta version for us Windows 10 testers.)

So when is the Beta for R3 going to be released? I thought it would be ready when the panel was released.
