@jrref , I do apricate what you have done to help me. On the 2nd, I asked you to reread the last Pm where you addressed one of the three questions. If you are done, I will understand.

You may be correct, but on my Sony, the autocalibration routine automatically switches dimming off.

I thought I answered it.

So HDR10+, the way I understand it, will work off of the HDR10 calibration on you set. Dolby Vision is a different process and encoding scheme so it needs to be calibrated separately. I'm not an expert on HDR10+ but this is the way I understand it and why there are no test pattern generators with HDR10+ ouputs.

If anyone knows differently, please comment.

When you give the resulting scan results, is the dimming now turned back On, or is it still Off?
If I calibrate with it Off, the results are no longer anywhere linear once turned back On.

Dimming is still off. I have seen quite a few discussions regarding whether dimming should be off or on during a calibration. I am not a professional calibrator, so i will let someone else comment on your concerns.

That was the 1st of the three questions, and was answered adequately - thank you.
3.) How would I go about verifying the Autocal corrections were copied to all Inputs (Globally) If anyone else cares to comment, it would be apricated.

The way the process is designed all calibration settings are copied globally but you still need to go into each PM and HDMI input, etc, and make sure the brightness or OLED light is set where you calibrated if you didn't use the default. On the LG if you click on Copy to All Inputs in the PM you changed, it will copy. For the Sony you need to do it manually. Also if you change any other user settings like motion, you need to manually change each input and PM as well.

More changes on the way!

AV1 was released in April 2018, and Google, Mozilla, and Netflix are currently conducting public tests. Estimates vary but some claim that AV1 outperforms VP9 and HEVC by 30% on average. A few big players have committed to using AV1 for video streaming and some industry people expect AV1 to swiftly supplant HEVC but critics argue that despite improvements encoding times are still slow.

TVs and other devices with built-in AV1 hardware decoding are expected to show up in late 2019 or 2020. Will Samsung's 2020 TVs support AV1? That remains to be seen but it is certainly a possibility.

HDR10+ - has a future, or not?

THX now jumping into the fray.

No wonder people want Autocal - but what device, at what cost will hold all these patterns?

Very often these days people aren't posting in their first language and/or can be posting on a mobile telephone with tiny keyboard and auto-correct hilarity. Some of our most helpful contributors can use Google Translate to post here so it's all good, no worries
But if you did want to use such things, Google Chrome has a built-in spell checker now. If you use forums etc a lot it's great. When I type mistakes in text input areas like this one, I get the red wavy lines underneath any errors just like in MS Word.

Sometimes I get in trouble. If I suspect trouble, I use ieSpell or attempt to plug a sentence into Google. Sometimes things don't work out.

It's getting scary, more and more spelling errors as I get older! (Going on 74)
But, as long as I can still calibrate, I'm OK.

Samsung HDR+

Which Workflow and Gamma Formula should be used to calibrate Samsung's HDR+ ? (NOT the HDR10+)

I would assume you wouldn't use this with actual HDR content, so I would go with BT-1886 gamma and your favorite SDR workflow ... but that's just my guess

AFAIK there is HDR10 and HDR10+. Probably HDR+ is another way to name HDR10+ or maybe you meant HDR10. Anyway, since both use the same reference (DCI P3 in the Rec.2020 container and EOTF curve) there’s no need for different calibration or workflow.

HDR+ is fake HDR from sdr source and far away from any Standard.

Thanks - this is how I calibrated it. Samsung has improved HDR+ quit a bit, because previously, I found it dreadful. Now, I kind of like it.

Appendum: HDR+ viewing depends on what is being watched. If SDR is already bright, HDR+ makes it annoyingly bright. SDR dull, HDR+ gives it life. So now I switch back and forth to which either mode makes it the easiest and nicest to watch.

I have a bit of a problem

Every time Autocal takes an exposure, it generates an Error. (Bunches of them - in both SDR & HDR) The only way out is to invoke Task Manager & kill the app.
I have a 75" Q9f & am using both of the 2017 Samsung HDR & SDR workflows. I have CalMAN 5 for Business (2018r2) using C6 2000 HDR & a VideoForge Pro.

To eliminate the computer I changed computers from a Win7 Pro to a Win10 Pro. (With ALL updates on both)
Going into the ProgramData/Spectracal/CalMAN for Business/Logs Sub Dir I found a logfile that had tons of Error: 78s

Does anyone have any thoughts?

To eliminate the computer I changed computers from a Win7 Pro to a Win10 Pro. (With ALL updates on both)
Going into the ProgramData/Spectracal/CalMAN for Business/Logs Sub Dir I found a logfile that had tons of Error: 78s

Does anyone have any thoughts?
So the 2017 Q9F. What settings are you using for the C6? Is this grayscale or CMS AutoCal?

They both failed in CMS. (HDR could only make ~ 650, although momentarily got to ~950 and then dropped down and stayed there)
In SDR I was able to set ~170 (Cal-Night)

The default for the Samsung Q2017. This is my 1st attempt at a Cal, although I have had the Cal kit for ~ 1 1/2 yrs. I am considering a purchase of a 2019 Q950, as I have nothing to
compare with on the TV side (This is for my use only) I have been retired since 2010 & will rapidly grow another year older next month.
