When I installed Home Enthusiast I got a bunch of workflows installed, didn't you? Most of them work with Enthusiast.

And if you feel adventurous you can try mine

Next question, is it a best practice to calibrate a LG C9 OLED with C6 and Calman in the complete dark? I've read conflicting reports, but maybe they are outdated at this point, maybe someone from SpectraCal can chime in. Thanks!

Every time I have had my TVs calibrated the pro always turns all the lights off when taking measurements.

You want to calibrate in a dark room because you don't want reflections affecting your readings. Even with the meter in contact mode with the screen, you can get reflections, etc.. You want to use normal viewing room lighting both dark and bright Before calibrating to better determine the brightness setting to calibrate with.

There doesn't seem to be support for Autocal on the 2019 GX Panasonics in Calman. Only the GZ, so this is a bit disappointing. Is there a technical reason for this, could it be added in future?

It's to tell Calman that that is going to happen, so Calman pre-expands these 16-235 patterns it creates, because it knows they are going to get compressed by something else in the chain afterwards. This is used for devices such as the Amazon Fire running Mobileforge, like this:

If your PC is "set to full", in that you are saying your PC has the ability to output 0-255, then you do not need this option (and should not use it). You will also have the advantage of being able to output the "super-white" range of 236-255 (where Calman shows this 255 as 109% because 235 is 100% white).
Ok found this older post and it's helpful. I'm assuming this is true also for MobileForge running on my phone with an HDMI cable out.

On my A9G, I should set the HDMI setting to "Limited"...

Almost never. Sometimes Spectracal would offer a bundle with one of their meters along with a license upgrade for a discount, but that was years ago.

Hi,

I picked up Calman 5 Home for Sony a couple days ago. First night I loaded it appeared to be stable. Didn't do much with it other than make sure the DDC was connecting to Calman for Bravia as well as look through the workflow. Two days later I start it up and it crashes within 30 seconds of initiating load. I repeat this error couple times and then try to repair and reinstall. The error persists. The error log doesn't mean much to me but I have yet to connect the application to a source or meter. I have escalated the issue to Portrait support but while I am waiting I thought I'd ask someone here if they might have a straightforward solution to the problem. I can load error logs if that would be helpful (all identifying/license-related data will be stripped, of course).

Thanks,

Improved handling of the DDCs for one, and overall improved algorithms. There's always room for improvement

I want the brand new LUT algorithm, mention in the helpdesk ticket that a user posted in one of the recent threads*, confirmed as coming in the R3 version by Tyler. The new one that measures many more points than the 101 in the so-called "Lightning" LUT (which is a terrible and more than slightly misleading name IMHO! it's not as fast as a bolt of lightning at all, not even compared with the iRP LUT) - but crucially, NOT using the drift algorithm of the IRP LUT, which was designed many years ago, and has some serious problems with OLEDs. I hope it will contain some volumetric data, too.

*found. Phew.

Quote:
The IRP measurement option is not suggested for LG OLED TVs. For best results please use Lightning LUT (SDR) or Matrix LUT (HDR).

IRP LUT takes more measurements, but the non-additivity of the display really breaks it's (sic!) AI.
PDI is investigating less dynamic measurement options like fixed LUT in future releases for users that just want to take more measurements."
