Oh, so 2pt and Color Gamut is all that is available for DV calibration right now?

Is that just for the Vizio or same for the LG OLED's also by chance?

5.7 is a public beta... but it's a beta. Same for the Golden Reference files. I've used it. It works and my display looks great but it raises lots of questions too.

OK, I think my set is acting normal.
I try to see behavior on my brother's P 2014 and it has the same as my P55.

Thanks guys. Now, I'm rest assure.

I've got a judder situation that seems to mostly happen on scene/camera changes. It's subtle, but it's there. Almost like a brief strobe. Moving judder up hasn't seemed to knock it out. Any ideas on what might fix it?

I've noticed this as well. It's apparent from light to dark transition and vice versa so my guess is lag with FALD.

Usually between camera cuts or scene transitions. It's like a blip with a real quick shudder to the picture, usually on people that I notice it.

The pic will be pristine other than that.

I've seen it on a few things now, but last night it was fairly prominent on "The Detour" from the DVR. Previous to that it was on "Captain America" live TV feed from one of the movie channels. This is DirecTV.

too dark?

The picture on this set is fantastic. The only issue I seem to have right now is that some scenes when watching movies seem to dark and i cant make out the characters. For example watching captain america the winter soldier the scene where he is jumping off the plane you can't even see captain america. I am using shomans settings, which are really great the colors do seem to pop. I was thinking of maybe dropping the gamma from 2.4 to 2.2 to see if that would resolve the issue. Anybody else experiencing similar issue?

That's what you should do. Drop it to 2.1 if you need to. Films are mastered with different eyes.

I'll see if that movies is available to me so I can see what your talking about. Do you remember the approximate timestamp? You are using my latest in post 3? You adjust the back light to your environment?

Same issue here. Search the owners' thread - there are more than a few people who've reported this issue. We're holding out hope that a firmware update will fix it.

I believe the time stamp is 4:25. I am using the previous settings before you updated to the latest. Thought the picture looked so good there was no need to change them. Possibly could be just that movie. I haven't really had time to watch many movies since I purchased the TV. I have the backlight at 50 with ambient light, I really do not get that much sun in the room where the tv is because I have the shades down. I was thinking of maybe increasing the back light to see if that helps. I am going to try another movie as well, I have the dark knight that has quite a few dark scenes.

I think you'll like the latest settings. Anything before my current ones are considered a work in progress. I'm so happy with these I haven't touched them since.

@logan456
Sounds like the low end gamma is too high with shoman94's previous settings on your set.
I just checked the scene and it looks dark, however faces remain visible without much problem.

Are there any services people would recommend to calibrate the TV for me? From what i'm reading it seems like too tall a task for me but i would like to have someone come and do it.

Also, I see almost everyone recommending the backlight at 20 or below.... For my set if its anywhere near 20 the darkness is crushing. Even in a fully dark room watching 4k edge of tomorrow off vudu, when the backlight is that low i can barely see anything in the dark scenes... i lose so much detail.

Yes sir, i really havent touched the setting beyond turning off all of the processing (which im not sure is a good move?), switching to calibrated dark and then moving the backlight up to 85 so i can see detail.

Have you tried setting gamma to 2.2 or even 2.1? Backlight isn't really designed to open up your shadows or change contrast.

I have not. Whats the setting preset to? I wish there was an easy to follow calibration list for each size of this TV lol.

Not sure... could be 2.4 which would have the deepest shadows. 2.2 should open them up and 2.1 even more. Moving brightness up to 51 or 52 would help if your shadows are truly crushing.

There are simple programs and disks available for setting black level.

Isn't that a Dolby Vision title? If it is then it's probably best to keep backlight at the default setting of 50.

Oh jeez... I didn't even notice that. I always call that movie "Live Die Repeat". Yes.... leave those settings alone. LDR is dark. Use 2.1 or even 2.0 gamma.

Ok. So is the best preset for a HDR calibrated dark at night? Or standard?

Calibrated Dark for sure with Backlight, Contrast and Brightness left alone.

.I tried the latest settings last night, they are working great. Dark scenes look much better now, watched captain america the winter soldier again and I could see the characters in the dark scenes. I cranked up the back light to 75 which seemed to help as well. Couldn’t be happier with the new picture settings.

Excellent! Yea the backlight is definitely based on your environment. I'm glad it worked for you.

Still working on my calibration, pretty close to rapping it up. Got a problem I missed with to much blue at 70%. Which translated into 65% having to much blue. Now certain white content, like snow, waterfall mist, white light sources, and anything that falls within that range has a blue cast or hue. I'm going to try an finish it tonight and post pics.

Quick question, do anyone here still feel that the 2016 P Series have upscaling issues?

Assuming you primarily watch HD sources. Personally I avoid any standard def programming.
