Do I need the Fury or any other "additional" devices to "trigger" HDR modes?

With my experiences and displays that I have worked on, if you playback HDR10 encoded media via a USB drive, then the display will automatically trigger HDR mode. I do not use or own a fury or additional triggering device.

I'm sure there are other devices that can be used to playback HDR10 encoded media, but that will have to be something you research.

Now that the disc is finalized, is there a detailed walk-through guide for beginners who want to calibrate their displays but have never done it before? For someone like myself how doesn't have any special equipment for measuring (nor would I know what to measure) how can we get the most out of your HDR-10 calibration disc?

I have an Epson 5040ub and I've used the DVE HD basics disc in the past to "calibrate" the cinema mode by eye. Now that I've added an Nvidia Shield and the Sony UBP-X800 UHD disc player, I want to get the HDR calibrated. There is a lot of technical talk in this thread that seems to be geared toward experienced calibrators maybe even those that are ISF certified ,and that's a good thing for those who understand it. However for me alot of it seems foreign.

I'd like to order one of your discs, but need a good walkthrough that will help me get the best use out of it.

Thanks.

@welldun you will at least need a colorimeter to make the best of the calibration disc. An i1Display Pro is a good choice. The 2017 models are updated to read accurately up to 2000nits and is great for calibrating pretty much all consumer displays. HCFR is the software to get you started. It is completely free. There are a ton of guides out there. Google is a great search engine. I highly recommend using it to find what you need.

All. I will be sending out an official update email early next week regarding the ETA and fulfillment of disc orders. However, here is a quick status update. Initially, as stated within pre-ordering, 3 to 4 weeks for order fulfillment, putting the furthest fulfillment on September 1st. This date still may be attainable. However, due to a small hiccup regarding disc selection during replication, this may push the fulfillment date out one week. I am working very diligently with Sony DADC to stay on track and within the original fulfillment time frame specified. Also, I have received a few post production samples of my disc from Sony, which have been tested thoroughly and seem to provide flawless playback! I would like to thank everyone for their patience's and continued support!

It ultimately came down to compatibility. The initial intent was to utilize and replicate on a dual layer 25 BD50, which would easily hold all content, but then decided go with the dual layer 33 UHD/BD66 as it seemed to work flawlessly across all playback devices.

I'm using your patterns in conjunction with CalMAN Enthusiast and X-rite i1 Display Pro. What target should I use to calibrate a Samsung LED TV like the JS8500 for HDR.

I see that I can pre-order this. I've read through this thread and saw that you offered a discount to existing customers. For those of us that are new customers I have a question:

If I buy the "RM UHD|HDR-10 Test Pattern Suite/UltraHD Blu-ray Disc", does this also include access to the USB "RM UHD|HDR-10 Test Pattern Suite/Digital File Download"?

If not, will you be offering a bundle price which includes both the disc version and USB version?

Thanks

It is my understanding that he gave early adopters a discount as a thank you.

I few post ago he also said that currently there is no bundle. But he will look at that after getting caught up getting the disc out the door.

For the amount of work that went into these. I personally have no problem paying for the download and the disc.

Do you have the reference? I've read everything, I couldn't find that information in any of his posts. I went back and reread the past few pages and still didn't see it, but I may have missed it though.

If the answer is that it isn't included and there is no bundle that is fine. I just want to know what is included so that I make an informed decision on which one to get when I purchase. I would like the disc, but as it is still pre-order I may have to buy the download first so that I can use it in the meantime.

There is no bundle. At this point, I would buy the disk, if I were you, unless you need the patterns immediately.

The disc and digital download are two separate projects and therefore two separate purchases. However, I gave existing customers a discount on the disc based version and will most likely offer a bundled package in the near future. Thanks!

Thank you.
For some reason post 394 in this thread is something completely different for me:

UltraHD Blu-ray disc update!

Thank you everyone for your patience. The pre-order time-frame is now finally coming to an end! My first fulfillment order from Sony is finally on its way. I should be receiving the first shipment between 9/6 -9/7 and start fulfilling orders immediately. All pre-orders will ship out no later than 9/9! I will be sending out an official email tonight via MailChimp to all existing pre-order customers with further details and confirmation emails with tracking information will follow upon fulfillment. Thank you everyone for your continued support!

All, please reach out to me directly, diversifiedvideosolutions.com/dvs_contact.html, if you did not receive the REV_016 update. The revision email is staggered, so some folks will receive the update sooner than others. However, all emails should have been delivered by now. Also, to note, sometimes emails get redirected and end up within your junk and/or spam file folders. Thanks!
