I know and that is why the discussion on new standards is really wide as several groups are working on them.
My latest posts on this subject were jokes... Sorry, I should have put more smilies 😉

There’s no valid standard even on those! That reminds me of VHS vs Video 2000.

It works well enough "on average". The problem is that most people have CMF's that are not exactly the same as the average.

A new standard (such as the TC 1-36 2012 proposed observer) may improve average match slightly, but can't possibly address individual variation. Effective methods to address individual variation are to broaden the primaries on the displays, perhaps moving in the direction of spectral reproduction, or to have a practical means of measuring individuals CMF's. The latter means that only one person at a time can see the display perfectly calibrated though :-)

I'm really sorry to necro this post but I can't send private messages yet. Soulnight did you by any chance create a CCSS for the UHZ65? I have an i1display pro and would like to calibrate it. The guys at X-Rite say it should be OK with the standard settings though I think that's mostly because they haven't produced an EDR for laser projectors yet - though to be fair to them it looks pretty good after a run with default settings!
