There is an absolute x,y value for it in the autocal workflow to enter.
When you go into autocal, select Judd instead if D65 and it will pull up the xy coordinates.

I'm pretty sure you have to manually enter the JUDD white point xy. At least that's what I saw. The xy already entered in the blocks are d65.

Previous versions there were pop ups to select whitepoint but I noticed as well yesterday that the feature was gone and I had to enter the whitepoint coordinates manually to alter from the default D65.

Interesting, so in the Alpha version you could select from a list but no worries. These settings mimic what's in the CM menus so just open the Workflow Basic Options and select 709 Judd from the Color Space pull down menu and the XY coordinates will populate in Autocal.

But the Autocal algorithm knows how to get around the problem and you can do so as well manually but it takes a while because the controls interact. That said, it's not an issue anymore if you use CM Autocal to calibrate with the option of a manual tweak if needed.
I think we are referencing different issues. You seem to be alluding to the fact that the controls are not linear. For example adjusting point "5" actually adjusts 40 or 60 IRE instead of 50.

What i am referencing is posterization that occurs when you touch any of the 10pt controls after turning local dimming back on. If you click the link in my post you will see where the user identified the issue.

Interesting, I've not personally seen that with the newer sets but I defer to the folks here to double check since I know 10K and trust his observations.

I'll check in a bit. Right now I'm calibrating pro2 expert2 directly to gamma 2.4. John I also noticed that you can change the display settings in the DDC, like gamma, without going into the TV menu.
The precal also shows less adjustment needed doing it this way.

Received my SpectraCAL C6 HDR2000 meter today. Now I just need a 75Z9F to work with. I think I'll try it on my 940D this evening to see if I get significantly different results than I was getting with the i1Display Pro. I am obviously bored.

I'll bet you'll see some differences, but probably not night-and-day. I have Retail and OEM I1D3s, an I1Pro, and a Pro 2. They all measure slightly differently (comparing the I1D3s without profiling), some noticeably so, but all more-or-less in the same ballpark. Someday I may do a back to back comparison just for S&Gs.

The next beta of CalMAN 2018 R3 will have a new Sony Z9F meter mode for the C6 (EDR). I just created it last week.

For a manual calibration, and using CalMAN Home Enthusiast software, what workflow is recommended? The Enthusiast workflow?

That’s what I’d use. Just skip certain steps that you don’t want/need to perform.

Did a practice run on my 940D with the new C6 meter, getting ready to use it on the 75Z9F when it arrives. The results look reasonably good.

True, but I think you are doing more harm than good trying to use another panel's settings. I've proven this over and over again and especially with this set being so sensitive. Once I posted totally random numbers for the 2 and 10 pt and many people raved about how great the picture looked lol. Just goes to show that different = better. These sets are so good out of the box that you are probably best leaving them alone unless you are going to calibrate them.

I agree completely, but “Settings” include all the other user-selectable stuff besides just the white-balance settings, like motion control, Reality Creation, contrast, etc.

I'm not here to debate what people should or shouldn't use. I'll provide my settings for people to look at or compare but that's what I provide them for. If people choose to use them and like it or don't like it that's on them.

Agreed, i'm not having this discussion since they are not even good for comparison because then people think they have a problem when they might not if the calibrated settings are different to yours.

The only point that's important to make is for those who are looking for User settings, that's fine to see what combinations users find that work but for calibration settings you are most likely going to make your set worse even though it looks better to your eyes initially and when you spend the kind of money for this level Sony TV, it's good to know you are getting a quality product OOTB. If you calibrate either yourself or by a pro, then you can get an even better picture. That's all.

That's all.
Could very well be but this thread is not for just user settings. It's for calibration talk, sharing graphs and sharing calibration settings. The owners are adults and can make their own judgements.
