The previous version was 5.10.0.41, so yes, you are running the latest version.

Changing Contrast to 35 after resetting the DCC was the only step I needed to get very good results, without the pink tinge issue. Changing Contrast after the autocal introduces a large delta-e error at 100% White.

The pre/post image is Contrast 45 on top, 35 on bottom.

So I've been trying the software before I get the meter.

At the connecting to the TV step:
  • It asks to select which picture mode I want to calibrate but I have no other modes besides custom.
At the brightness/contrast step:
  • The brightness pattern is just a black background with an almost black square in the center, do I have to keep lowering brightness until its invisible?
  • For contrast same question, do I keep going up until it's not visible anymore?
  • Does mobileforge generate patterns over 100% white?
  • After doing the read series it tells you to click help button for sample results but there are no sample results.
  • After checking help menu, I found instructions for brightness and contrast that make no sense with the pattern mobileforge is generating. It also states in bold that "If multiple points of grayscale/gamma are adjusted (i.e. 10-point grayscale), the Brightness/black level should not be readjusted after grayscale/gamma." and this is the last step of calibration.
  • Where do I select the 100/235 pattern it asks for in step 4?

Hi mate,

On the first screenshot this is a list of whites, select the one which is labelled 100, click the continuous read button and adjust backlight to the luminance level you are after.

Another bug i found is when using pgenerator the contrast and brightness adjustment doesn't show the appropriate slide, not sure whether this is the pi or the unified pattern generator within calMAN, calMAN's own internal patch generator works fine, not tried madtpg yet. Apols if this has been fixed, not tried the new release.

No biggie as I have access to my own slides, but thought it worth a mention

cheers

I also found that the AVS HD 709 patterns (the classic flashing bars) are easier to use.

Here's where you can download them

and here's a good video on Contrast adjustment,

Thanks, I was expecting a pattern like that but mobileforge doesn't seem to have it. The thing is, if I disconnect from it, CalMAN has actual brightness/contrast patterns where you can see what you have to do. I guess I will have to get a blu-ray player from some friend because I don't have any, I watch all movies from the Plex app.

In any case, are there actual instructions for the patterns mobileforge creates?

Other than the walkthrough, I haven't found any.

https://calmankb.groovehq.com/help/c...ng-walkthrough

You can download the AVS HD patterns in mp4 format

and play them back like any video file.

Are we going to have to download every update from the website? The software always says it's the latest version even if theres a newer one.

I did an autocal run and ended with pretty bad results, I still can't select anything besides custom on picture mode and it doesn't appear as a new mode either after calibrating (I have dynamic, standard, natural, movie).

Since the first run was so bad, I did another run and these are the results.

Anything I might be doing wrong?

Which exact TV model do you have? I think back with the 2016 models it says custom in CalMAN, but we mean Movie on the TV.

You can also enable Cal Day and Cal night modes.

It's an EU KS7000, I think it's the same as the UN KS8000.

The tag "custom" on the display tab isn't really referring to the picture mode the TV started in. As it was explained to us by SpectraCal months ago, CalMAN cannot read any settings directly from the display through the Samsung interface. So it's essentially telling you that the set is in a custom adjustment mode for the autocal. You do appear to be using a display type for the meter that doesn't really match. Try either profiling the meter to the display with a spectro if you have access to one, or use the "Raw XYZ" meter mode, which could give you a better result. I own a KS8000 that I have done autocals on in the past, so this is familiar territory.

Unfortunately I don't have access to a spectro, the meter is rented and they don't have any spectro for renting. I will try Raw XYZ later today and post the results.

Thanks

Additionally, if you start seeing wild swings on the meter readings - say that at 40% you get rapid swings in red and blue and the program won't advance to the next step - try changing the "Sync" option on the meter properties tab. Good luck!

Last night at the post calibration readings it got stuck at the first one, it was like it couldn't see full black.

Do I leave everything else by default? saturation sweep at 75% etc?

The meter is an X-Rite i1Display PRO and the pattern generator mobileforge running on a firestick tv plugged in the samsung onebox hdmi1.
I just ran it again with the profile set as Raw XYZ and the results are horrible

In version 5.10.0.50, on the Post-Calibration Verification page, under Grayscale Performance, it looks like Avg Error is being reported incorrectly; it appears to be reporting the same as Max Error.

The CalMAN Home for Samsung Walkthrough says to use Full 100% pattern size for SDR AutoCal. The CalMAN Home Manual Calibration Walkthrough recommends using Constant APL 10 for LCD. Why the difference? Which one should I pick for manual calibration of a 2019 Samsung Q90R?
