Epson 5050ub 10 point grayscale help

Going to try calibrating soon using chromapure. Just have two very simple questions
For 2 point I use 100% and 30% but what about the 8 different grayscale settings? # 1 would be Witch pattern? So I'm guessing#1 80% and #2 -70%. And so on.

Second. The 5050 comes with patterns. Do I do contrast and brightness with it's patterns or use the Source( Blu-ray) instead?

Try asking in the Chromapure thread. Tom Huffman monitors that closely and you're likely to get faster answers.

if your Epson controls have both 2 point and 10 point then use the 2 point mode first.
do your low and high. 30 and 100.
then switch to 10 point mode.
run sweep and see if the 30 and 100 read the same.
this will tell you if the 2 point settings carry over to the 10 point settings.

then do the 10 point adjustments.

as far as internal patterns, I guess that would depend on chrome pure wanting to see the patterns in the Epson.

I believe the Epson has 8 points of control, in 2 separate menus. A white balance menu and also a gamma menu.
Set your software to measure 20 points and adjust the epson using 1 point at a time, with remeasurement of the entire run of 20 points after each adjustment.
