HD TV reborn!

So I finally got around to calibrate my TV for the first time, using my X-rite I1. An "old" Samsung F7005, maybe 5-7 years old.

I know that Youtube by far is the go to place for video testing, but there are some nice videos on there.

On my own TV, I've watched YT f7hbWvHKns0 (Greenland - Land of Ice 4K)* quite a few times and the other day I was at hifi-klubben, looking on a Sony XF9005. A last years model.
I believe it was a mistake, as the TV was set to 'Dynamic' and of course that same video looked horrible. So I changed to 'Standard' or 'Movie' - can't remember - and still this new 2018 model was still not as good as my calibrated TV, when it comes to dynamics. Of course, the right material and a calibration of the Sony would probably blow my TV away.

I'm super impressed how much a calibration can do to even an old TV. Okay, my TV has a lot of back bleeding, but still! I can't even find a TV of today in the same price range that supports CMS and 10p white balance at the same time. Which surprises me a lot!

Off topic, maybe someone can clear this up for me; I'm sure I saw that the Sony XF9005 had CMS, but saw a review on YT yesterday, where he said it lacked CMS.
Maybe Sony added it in a firmware update?

*) sry, can't post links yet!

Yes, calibration is not only interesting and fun, but it can make a massive difference..

I used to rely on online calibrations for my TV model. Now I can see how pointless they really are
