Local Dimming on or off during calibration?

What is the general consensus regarding Local Dimming for LCD TV's and calibration? I know on my x940E, if I calibrate grayscale with it off and with it on, I get different offset values. And I also know, at least for the x940E, calibrating with LD on is a little bit of a challenge (the offsets don't quite match up with the % GS being displayed).

However, if one is going to be using local dimming during playback (especially for HDR), is it more accurate to calibrate with it on?

If you want the truth, any Local Dimming will alter any calibration.

Local Dimming will dynamically change your picture (to look better to the observer), but it will alter/distort your calibration.

Any display, for proper playback content, it should not have any ABL or Local Dimming active.

Think that broadcast LCD display which cost some thousand dollars, don't have any local dimming algorithm.

What is better to the eyes, its a different story.

For SDR, try to calibrate for 100 nits reducing your backlight with gamma 2.4 without local dimming, you can use a D65 bias light behind to your screen.
