Just download the free AVS HD709 file and burn it to a disk. You can't calibrate your panel with just a disk alone, only adjust, but it may be all you need. To calibrate you need a light meter and software.

I never trust an atom, they make up everything.

What is the pattern name where you are not seeing flashing bars?

If there is a Contrast pattern for example and your have very high your Contrast Slider then levels above 235 (100% White) should not be flashing.

It can happen also to have level mismatch, for example TV to expect PC (data) level patterns (so black is 0 and 100% white is 255) and the patterns you display are suitable for TV Video Legal range (16 black, 235 (100% White), 254 (109% Super White). The TV has to be configured to expect TV Legal Video Levels (RGB-Limited) and your player has to output YCbCr colorspace.

Another example, to the brightness pattern, it can happen your TV to have enabled a feature which will clip near black detail to provide you 'deeper' blacks, so when this feature is enabled, you will not able to see any flashing bar (17 bar and higher).

You can see some info about setting contrast and brightness.
