AVS HD 709 black clipping help!

Basically have a Samsung Q60r and when I use the black clipping pattern on AVS HD, reference 16 is not visible at all even at max brightness, but, if I raise sharpness by 2 or more, its there and even bar 14. What do I do. Leave sharpness at 0 or raise it a bit to be able to see 16 so I can make it dissappear? So confused.

Some displays never correctly show a brightness pattern. How are you outputting the patterns, via a media player or from disc? If it's a media player, try changing the HDMI Black Level (this only works with RGB). Never use the sharpness control to "help" with setting brightness, because the perceived improvement comes from enhanced mosquito noise and/or ringing. Use a sharpness pattern to correctly set it.

Samsung QLED series hard clip at 16 if you have HDMI set to BluRay. Switch input to PC mode and 16 will be visible. See here : https://www.avsforum.com/forum/166-l...l#post59205788
