Fus Ro Dah! Skyrim has been ported to XB1. No news about a release any time soon, but Bethesda "did it" to get experience working with the XB1 hardware. My bet is that we'll get it next year.

Is this a re-master, or 360 backward compatibility?

No exact wording from the devs, but I am fairly certain that it is a port of the Legendary Edition PC version due to the fact that XB1 is x86, the GPU performance is in-line with a PC, and because the console has strong software ties to Windows. Because of that, there's no reason for them to port the code from the 360 builds when they have the PC codebase to tap.

This is freaking awesome! Great link Spid. BC capability was always one of the 2 holy grail "Must haves" with Next Gen consoles for me. I can't believe how fast and comprehensively Microsoft flipped the switch on everybody with Xbox One. I literally can't imagine a need for any other kind of game platform or media extender in my living room going forward. My PC game room is still my "Holy gaming Shrine". But Xbox One has now put my Living room back in play, with semi-equal footing again (like with the Xbox 360). BC with Hololens, Windows 10 PC compatibility, Surface/Laptop/XBox & Mobile/phone integration and the Oculus Rift Strategic Alliance, XB1 is starting to look like a "category killer" going forward. I'll be stunned if they don't vault to the front of the pack on multiple fronts in 2016. With Windows 10 Storefront, featuring BC Xbox games even knocking out most gamer sites like Origen. And perhaps becoming a looming threat for Steam. Welllll...maybe not Steam. That will always be the PC gamer's go too shot IMO.

I'm stoked now over Xbox One. Bur enough cheerleading. I've gotta figure out a way to get my wife to move my Christmas up into November (Black Friday). I MUST HAVE HALO 5 NOW!

Don't ditch your 360 yet. The publishers have to "allow" their game on BC, and any games that have hardware accessories won't be BC compatible (music games, etc). I'll be interested to see if an Xbox One wheel will work for 360 racing games.

I think what they should do is all you to plug in a 360 wireless adapter (originally for PC) to allow you to connect 360 hardware accessories. But somehow I think that's a bridge too far.

I took the plunge and ordered one of the bundle deals from Amazon. My B-Day is next Wednesday, so it's justified .

HMMMMM! My son's birthday is this month. Wonder if I can get her to move it up based on celebrating and honoring his...Oh never mind. She'd see through me like a cheap vinyl suit!

@ Oryan_Dunn: I have zero intentions of dumping my Xbox 360 or any of its games. I agree that all of the games won't make the cut. But who knows down the road. I'll just move the 360 into the bedroom for my wife to use and as a media extender.

s1njin,

In response to your concern about the noise of the One... don't sweat it. I loved the 360, but you are right, the noise was very annoying. PS3 was much better in that regard. This generation, the relationship is flipped. My PS4 is actually worse than my 360s were, it's unbelievably loud. The One is nearly silent.

I went PS4 first despite loving my 360 because I couldn't get over the better specs of the PS4. Now that each system has been around a bit and the games are rolling out, I spend way more time on the One. Same with my boys. In fact, besides playing my "freebies" from the PSN and Netflix, I rarely turn on my PS4. Rocket League is a lot of fun though. I hope that comes over to Xbox so more people get a chance to play it.

Gen 1 PS4 hardware was definitely noisy. I just upgraded my PS4 (minimal out of pocket w/ a Gamestop deal I hit on; I wanted the free bundled game and I needed a new controller) to the latest hardware rev. It's definitely much quieter now.

Glad to hear the One is solid in this regard.

I bought the PS4 first too based soley on the specs of the system. I'll play on whatever system the game is better on. I'm really platform agnostic, and its nice to be able to play the exclusives no matter what.

Me too. I'm gonna trade it in to Best Buy towards an Elite controller(if they're still taking them). I'm getting drop-shotted way too much in the new COD already.

@barrelbelly I know we have discussed this several times on different threads (PC or Steam), but if MS wants get competitive, then they need to bring the price down on Digital titles and push it that way as well. They may not be able to do that with 3rd party ones, but all first party ones they can easily knock off $10-15 and still make a good profit on it.

I agree. But I think they will tiptoe into that low margin swamp very gradually. Starting with BC Xbox 360 games for XB1 players who don't own them. I think their prices will rival or even surpass Steam on BC XB360 games. That's why I believe they will figure out a way to release over 90% of BC titles ASAP. It's a quick and simple cash grab that costs them virtually nothing now as leverage into an alternative to used games. Then they will gradually reduce XB1 games 1-2 years after launch.

Probably not going to see digital games cheaper for while.

The problem is if digital was cheaper, then MS/Sony/Nintendo are essentially competing with Best Buy, Target, Amazon, etc.. Those places with the physical products could respond to competition by not stocking, or at least not giving prime shelf space, to console software and hardware.

For now, both sides need each other to stay in business. This could eventually change, though.

A look at the One Guide in the new dash. Still not a fan of this design however the faster loading for the one guide information would be welcome.

Unless you're one to trade games in later, might as well get the digital copy. All the games have to install and will take up the same amount of space no matter disc/digital.

I too just jumped into the Xbox One world with the deals they had this weekend. I have always been a multi console gamer from all the way back in the Saga/Nintendo days. I've had a Wii U and PS4 for a while now and it was high time I got back into some Xbox action. I tried to stack as many deals as I could. So, I ended up buying the 1 terabyte Holiday Bundle that came with the Gears remaster, Rare Repay, and Ori and the blind forest. Best Buy was doing a deal of buying the system you get a $50 gift card as well as a game. I chose Halo 5 as my free game. I also got $10 off a second controller and 40% of a 3month live card. I chose one of the 3 + 1 cards to maximize the deal.

My wife and I played split screen co-op of Gears and just finished it tonight. We both really enjoyed the updates they made to it. I wish they would remaster the full collection now.

I popped in Halo and played the first mission and wowzers. It may not be the best looking game I have ever played but its definitely the best looking Halo game I have ever played.

I know the windows 10 update is coming soon so I am not going to get too attached to the current dashboard but I really don't care for it. It kinda feels like a mess and it has done a few odd things already. Also, one of my controllers seems to be allergic to the system and keeps losing sync. Beyond that and the crazy install times I have really enjoyed getting back to the Xbox games.

Oh and I have only sampled a little bit of Rare Replay but so far it's pretty sweet. Such a great collection of games. I like how they label the release date and how many players under each title. We jumped into Battle Toads and a racing game for a bit. Good old fashion fun in that collection.

@stitch1 the controller sync will not be an issue after you play Ori and the blind forest. After playing that for a bit you may end up throwing the controller in frustration with some of the stuff you need to do to advance in the game. I have loved that game and it is gorgeous looking. Some great platform elements in it and fun exploration as well. Can be frustrating at times with how often you die, but unlike bloodborne you do not die from just opening the game

On the Backwards Compatibility, will they be including Apps?
There are some entertainment apps on the 360 that are not available for the One: A&E, Disney (Watch, XD, Junior), History, etc.

I'm hoping they get some of these onto the Xbox One if BC isn't including apps.

Apps are not games. If an app isn't on the Xbox One that Is either they don't have plans to bring a native app or it is in development for the One.

No, backward compatibility is just for games. I think there will be more apps coming to the Xbox One once the Windows 10 update is place.

I just find it weird that Geometry Wars (1) was on the list available in the preview and isn't in the final list.

Still, I was hoping for GW2 more than that anyway, so that's a slight disappointment.

It does seem like an odd mix of titles. A great deal of these seem to be things that nobody will care about. But then, considering that a year ago, there were 0 titles with backwards compatibility, it's a nice start.

I just tried the game streaming to PC from the Xbox app. Though it is over a wireless network with about 30' between Xbox and PC it worked relatively well, certainly not unplayable. I bought the Xb1 adapter so I could use the One controller on the PC. Takes the place of my rather beaten and battered 360 controller. One thing though,my son picked the Halo controller as our additional controller and yesterday it started making a rattling sound with the rumble. Not bad but it is brand new.
