any hardcore gamer would likely hate it for the ~120ms response lag if playing on-line competitively though.
Off-Line single player and platform gaming isn't nearly as bad once you get use to it.

My previous projector was an Epson 1080UB with PixelWorks chipset (~20ms response lag)
That was my main gaming rig since MW2 8 years ago
and I still have my old Epson as a back up rig for my old PS3 when I get an urge to go quick-scoping in some old COD matches on-line
(retired after Ghosts from online play, getting too old and too slow LOL!)

Finished last night. Overall really liked it. Felt very Gears despite having 3 new characters. The graphics and sound were amazing. Having a 7.2.4 setup was amazing during the windstorms.

Plus it played really smooth. No lags or frame drops were noticed.

that sequence where you ride the cable out of the mine was AMAZING!!! Not really a great playing sequence really but the whole atmosphere, the speed, the graphics, etc. were spectacular. It was so non-Gears and so cinematic. I wonder if it was cribbed from another game.

On PC a lot of us are waiting on a fix that the preview build 14946 caused issues with Gears 4, Recore, Forza 3 and a few others. I can't launch the PC version. Been playing on the One.

The 5.0 is here

I tried Horde Saturday night and it teamed me up with three other people within a few seconds. I was surprised since I had selected casual.

I've been playing MP every night since preview launch. Until last night, it's been pretty seamless. Long game load times, and not being able to stay in rotating rooms in the core gametypes notwithstanding... MP was broken last night...booting people out of parties, not loading games, error messages, the works. (Reminded me of COD)

I have seen some players show up a second time in a separate match, only in the same night. Never again...

[QUOTE=onlysublime;47455265]for the HDR games on the Xbox One S, they automatically turn on if you have HDR enabled on your TV. there is no HDR toggle in any Xbox One S game. There are no PC HDR games.

No HDR PC games; so much for my GTX 1080 $700.00 Founders edition card.

Doesn't Direct X 12 support it?

Thank you for the picture. Guess I will have to buy the PC version since I'm terrible with the controller on FPS. I do have it on the OneS as a download and do enjoy the HDR feature on my LG 50" 4K TV which is a little too small for my liking.

I do believe the the OneS DOES upscales video games ( another threat says it doesn't, lot of debate there) because it looks great on my 1080P projector ( 92" inexpensive screen) which does NOT upscale the picture ( do miss the HDR contrast)

Yes. The XBOne S can upscale everything to 2160P. It has been this way since the launch in August. 2160P output is what I have my XBOne S set for. WHich is the only resolution it is outputting.

Well my new 1080 is insane - I love I can play gears and deus ex and forza at 2k to 4K on ultra at 60 locked with DSR to 1080p (sharp elite 70). It's nuts how good it looks with DSR vs Fxaa and 1080 on my 970

To your point:
Shadow warrior is the FIRST hdr10 game. It's $20 on steam. Mediocre game but great HDR. I think it looks like dumb fun.

The Nvidia game works has support.

From the developers I have spoke to (keep in mind it's a few but they make middleware) DV will be huge on PC not hdr10. I stopped my ordered z9 from Sony over this just in time.

Mass effect is already announced as DV as will be the frostbite games. It makes sense - you can do 4K in DV on older cards like the crappy Overpriced ATi fury

As of now, win10 native supports (or works fine) with DV not hdr10. Lg demos in DV play fine and trigger HDR on the vizio.

Man...this game is frustrating unless you are really good at moving in and out of cover and I completely suck with a controller...

I feel like seeing if I can put my wireless keyboard mouse to the xbox, but then I'd feel like I am cheating even though it would probably only make the playing field level.

I wonder how people have their controller setup because it seems like other people are always RUNNING and to do that you have to hold "A" unless there is a better configuration...I see people bumping in and out of cover at insane speeds...not sure how you are supposed to aim with your thumb when it is holding down a button to run (hand-cuffs anyone?)

My kills to deaths ratio is probably like 1:3...pretty frustrating when you hit someone 3 times and it seems like I get 1 shot killed by the shotgun just about ALWAYS (or friggin headshot by a sniper)

I watched some kind of TWITCH xbox GOW4 "Major league gaming" and the guys playing it were INSANELY good...hope to get some tips maybe from some of my friends tonight...

I was kind of disappointed in the game, were the other games only 8hrs to play through?

have you tried rolling into a run? double tap A and on the second tap, hold it down.

you need to practice wall-bouncing. there are plenty of youtube videos to show you.

you're more likely to get a 1-shot shotgun kill from the hip view rather than sight view so you need to practice that. if you have trouble aiming, watch the position of your shotgun and get used to the way it's facing. it will kill whatever is directly in front of the gun (don't use the orientation of your character to aim but use the orientation of the gun).

I figured out shooting from hip was much better, but it definitely will take practice not to suck at it...and I haven't watched the youtubes yet...but damn it seems like a LOT of switching from the analogue sticks to other things (like changing weapon...is the D-pad)

The elite controller would fix some of these issues. I frequently switch between my primary and my shotgun, so I have mapped two of the paddles to D-pad left and D-pad right. You could also map one of these paddles as the A button so you can keep your fingers on both sticks while running.

I just watched a video about the sensitivities...now I understand why I move like a snail compared to these other people.

I have it set on default right now but am guessing it should be turned up to like 20 or 25...I doubt I could do 30 and still control the player.

you also swing run, right? that's where you hold in a direction and then initiate the run.

for example, you run toward an ammo chest, pick it up, then hold the stick downward and hold A to initiate running back in the direction you came from. same for instantly running left or right.

also practice rolling left and right. not just forward and backward.

and don't roll into a shotgun blast! haha. everyone does that.

mapping the D-pad to the paddles sounds like a good idea. I didn't think of that.

but I did play around with mapping A to a paddle. it's just not that useful with how Gears designed the roadie run.

Yeah I haven't tried mapping A, it was just a thought. In fact, I only have two of the paddles attached. With the way I hold the controller, there was way too much fat-fingering going on with all four attached.

I gotta practice some movement...I feel like there is no way I will get to the level I saw these guys doing even with simple push forward and push backward reaction shots

watching the video made me sick to my stomache, fricking wall bouncing, the way the guy was moving was mostly gravitational pulls left or right between 2 walls @[email protected]

...I much preferred DOOM4!!! but I guess I'll give it a shot.

Seriously though...I had no idea the sensitivity made you spin like a top or not turn at all, now I know why the other players look like there moving 2x as fast...because they are (Turning and wall bouncing)

played a bunch tonight...shooting from the hip is definitely key...i am mostly getting lucky with the hipshots from the gnasher

I still don't know how to wall bounce like i've seen in the videos...the most satisfying kill of the night was a buddy reaching to pull me over a baracade and blind shooting his face off, it was pretty awesome

the exploding bodies are insane..."Bodying" people for 2 hrs. I like the team aspect...although the way some of these guys play they could go lone wolf and just about take a whole team down

wall bouncing

now, with the Xbox One (especially with the Elite controller), you can remap any of the buttons so you can do like that guy does. instead of using the A button, he used a bumper button. the Elite makes it easier than a regular controller because the Elite has the ability to store 2 profiles. People don't realize how important this is until they start going crazy and remapping everything and then forgetting what button does what. For example, in one game, I mapped the B button to LB. And later forgot that it was LB. So when I needed the B button to back out of a nested menu, I had to press every friggin button to find that B button. But with 2 profiles, I set the standard layout to profile 2. then I load various game profiles to profile 1. So Rainbow Six Siege, Gears of War 4, etc. get loaded into profile 1. So when I need to do general stuff like navigate UI, I switch to profile 2.

Another note on the Elite controller is that there are some pre-made templates for some games. If you go to Xbox accessories, and then click on community tab, it brings up a few templates that I think are made by the studios. They even separated multiplayer vs single player profiles as the button remapping could be different. So far I think they have Forza, Gears of War (Ultimate edition = but it should work for GoW 4), Halo 5, Warframe, and a few more I cannot recall.

The other cool thing is that you can re-program the sensitivities for both the sticks, which could make it more or less responsive if you wish.

As a side note, if any of you guys want to try Insane horde and try to get to level 50, count me in. I have been playing with random and they keep leaving. I'll play any difficulty. The problem is the time commitment, as it could take 2-3 hours. I am on west coast time (AZ time) so I can play most evenings 9pm -12.

I finally finished the campaign last night. I don't really have any complaints. If I were to nitpick, I suppose Act V was a bit short, and the final boss was rather easy to defeat (I was playing on Hardcore). The second half of Act V was such a blast that I really didn't care about the lack of difficulty. Time to move onto Horde!
