Yes I hated it when MS switched to that. Because I never had any issues with it switching between Atmos and PCM audio. But like has been the case throughout the XB1 history, they always end up borking the audio. There is a reason why I went from Xbox 360s being my most used streamers to Xbox Ones being my least used. It's the last device I want to use because of their boneheaded decisions with both audio and video. (Like having HDR always on in Netflix)

Xbox one will soon have the ability to turn on Atmos upmixing ( like A.V. receivers) for legacy content and possibly 1-1 output of 2.0 or 5.1 & 7.1 . This is announced as part of the Dts-X announcement.
