I am actually considering buying a new XB1X for the Grandson this Xmas instead of upping to the Series X when it arrives. Then I can fully transfer my 360 library over to the 1X via BC & play co-op with the grandson on weekends (on-line). I really don't know if I will see much benefit on the next upgrade anyway if new games will play on both consoles. While a hot Inventory purge price on the XB1X (like $199) will have more cost/benefit based on what I want to do. What say you...upgrade or hold serve?
I got the XB1X Jedi Fallen Order deal for 279 on Amazon at the beginning of last December. The console should hold up fine. It's still a powerful rig.

Over the last few weeks, MS has been 'blowing out' all their Xbox One X 'bundles' for $299. Once they are gone they will be gone forever. I don't need another console, but bought the GoW 5 limited edition X (it is a really nice console, with laser etching, comes with all 5 GoW games and the custom controller is nice as well), because it was such a good 'deal'. I suspect that $299 will be the floor for the X, and I doubt it will go any lower, because they are probably just moving inventory at this point. As supply goes down, I think the price goes back to $399 for the regular X and probably holds that price as when the new console comes out.

I think in 2017, there was some mention from Phil Spenser that the X cost ~$500 to make, and that they were not making any money on the console.http://www.businessinsider.com/xbox-...ncer-e3-2017-6

I bet even 2+ years latter the X probably costs more than $300 to make, so I doubt that they keep making them and then selling them for a loss.

Wowzers! I'm going to check the MS Store daily for the rest of the year. And when I see that miracle price of $199 again...I'm all over it! That will really hook me and the Grandson up great for online coop. Thanks JRocker23.

If you don't mind going refurb, it looks like $230 is the going price for an X now. Walmart online has them, and the same price at Dell includes Witcher III game.

For Dolby Atmos, has the behavior of the "Upmix multi channel to Atmos" options been confirmed? As in, do we know if it only upmixes to 2 height channels or 4?

Right now I'm still rolling with using 5.1 PCM so my receiver upmixes to heights correctly and then just enabling Atmos whenever I play a game with Atmos sound.

I am actually leaning slightly toward that too. But who knows what they will do or when they will actually launch that series...in the face of this pandemic and a collapsing economy & stock market that is in freefall already. MS and Sony could end up taking a bloodbath on their new consoles...if not being forced into a catastrophic price war, at launch (into a collapsed retail market). Here's hoping they can launch the Series X. And if that one hits the depressed retail market at $299-$350, I'll swing that way easily.

Still a long way off before a rumored holiday launch, but even then, they have to have the factories up and running to have consoles ready. Remember the Xbox 360 launch, where it was well into March and April before you could easily find them. But it wouldn't surprise me to see Microsoft scale back dramatically for E3, and announce a summer 2021 launch.

price wars benefit the consumer

your scenario between the two would not be surprising given the gravity of current world circumstances.

so maybe we as consumers will get lucky

My money for Xbox Series X and PS5 is already saved and ready to go. Hopefully everything starts getting better by June and manufacturing can ramp up so they aren't delayed out of 2020. Even if both consoles are 500 each, I'm ready. Bring on next gen!

My plan will be to trade in my XB1S and put my XB1X in the location the XB1S was.
And then the Series X will replace my XB1X.

So I'm having some issue with the upload and ping on both my XBox's. Everything else on my network is getting my plan upload of 10+mbps with a ping of ~20ms. The Xbox's are getting anywhere from 2mbps to 5mbps with a ping of ~59ms. They are both wired. I can't seem to figure this out.

Anyone?

I could be your ISP for your area or it could be the server you connect to in your area. The best way to trouble shoot if it continues is to get a trouble call verify everything with them and your wiring is good and go from there

It is only the 2 xbox's that are having an issue. Must be their server.

Normally when Servers are having problems for Xbox it tells you at their website and in your network settings.

Try hard rebooting your Xbox next time or quit the game and reload it. I didn’t have an issue last night playing

Because of HDCP encryption issues a cheap converter will probably not work. Some others could chime in but HDFury is probably something that will work, but those converters are pretty expensive.

this day and age....probably be cheaper to buy a new 55” or 65” tv rather than trying to make his old one work.
