Xbox One X - HDR Firmware

Hi all,

For a while I have been looking to buy an Xbox One X for gaming.
I do own a Samsung KS8000 4k HDR TV, hence the recent issues with 4k HDR was my main concern to wait.
Today I heard there seems to be a fix for the HDR issue.

Could someone let me know if this completely fixes the black and color issues for 4k HDR movies and 4k HDR gaming?
Are there still open issues?

When these issues are fixed, I will order my own Xbox One X this week, but if not, I rather wait.

Thanks a lot!

The elevated black issue was only for the 4K HDR movies. Games were never affected. The fix has already rolled out to the public so it has been fixed. Blacks display properly now when playing movies that have HDR.

Xbox One X Netflix HDR issue

The HDR issue above was fixed but there is another HDR problem on this console that has yet to be fixed.
The Netflix app on Xbox One X is always in HDR mode. Even on the menus and with non-HDR content. It should only be outputting an HDR signal when there is actual HDR content playing.

That’s more so a Netflix problem than Microsoft. Netflix ended up screwing up the Netflix app on the PS4 as well. Now both consoles have Netflix displaying in HDR from the moment you launch the app. And honestly I think they are doing the same thing Apple did with the launch of the Apple TV 4K, permanently displaying everything in HDR to potentially make it easier on the end user. Too many people griped about it though and Apple was forced to correct the issue in a future update. Hopefully Netflix will do the same on consoles and release an update to allow an automatic setting.

The Netflix issue has been around since the Xbox One S not specific to the X.
