Thankfully, my son (7 years) loved that game so it wasn't a total waste at full price... but I thought it was horrible. I love platformer adventure games but this game was so incredibly shallow and it's coop play was a complete joke. The second player can fight and break stuff, but otherwise they don't matter at all. They die without consequence and they're just dragged forward by the first player. Even the stuff the second player collects goes to the first player. If you have two kids playing this game, the second kid is likely to be feel disappointed or cheated. Its questionable whether I'd even recommend this game at $10...

what age kids? I was debating getting this for my 7 year old twins. Wondering if they will get stuck/frustrated, not know what to do and need my intervention to help?

They play way too much Wii Mario Kart and some Cars 2 (ps3) but really any gaming they've done besides that has been on their Kindles.

I don't have kids, but based on my experiences with Lego games, these games occasionally have puzzles that I would think might challenge younger kids and frustrate those with less patience.

The positive side is there's no real death penalty, and any failure causes the character the immediately reappear.

for $5, I guess I have to purchase it, I don't want it to be TOO popular with them though

yeah, that's what i was wondering about, if it would get too frustrating and they'd need me too often but they have each other to help figure it out, ha.

I play this with my five year old. Occasionally. He hasn't quite mastered the controls, but that's probably because I don't let him game much. I want him to see the outdoors more than me!

LEGO Marvel Superheroes is an awesome LEGO game. I enjoyed it enough to get the plat. But more frustrating for kids (and you) might be the glitches and the wonky flying controls in free roam. This is by far the glitchiest LEGO game I've played.

hey thanks for the heads up and I did read about the lousy flying controls. So that is only free roam and not part of standard campaign?

Because of the sheer number of collectibles, the platinum for these lego games seem like no joke.

Only Lego game I've played is Lego Rock Band (to get extra songs), but that doesn't really count as a Lego game. If the shorties take a liking to it, I am sure they will ask for the other Lego games (Movie, Batman, etc)...

Ok, so besides that first water on sand part that set me back also (what the heck haha), the free roam flight part and some of the races are the parts too hard, but other than that, the 3yo went from only watching to soloing story missions. I came home from work to see him advancing through the level and couldn't believe my eyes. It was a Marvel to behold.

So yeah, you're kids are more capable than you realize, but especially if you show them first.

For $5 I'd definitely take the chance. The flying controls are more intuitive in the story levels. Free roam is only bad when you are trying to maneuver through rings to beat the race times. Once you get a feel for the flying controls after a bit of practice, it isn't so bad, but at first it may have you pulling your hair out (at one point I gave up on platting this game).

It took me over 40 hours to get all the collectibles in LEGO Marvel Superheroes, compared to 32 for LEGO LOTR, which I just finished last week. If your kids end up liking LEGO games, my personal favorite is still LEGO Batman 2 (though I've pretty much named every LEGO game I've ever played in this post other than the two Star Wars titles).

I played the first one, Metro 2033, back when I owned a 360. Very well done story and lore, great atmosphere, scary. The shooting works well and the weapon types are pretty creative. It's not perfect but you won't care. I missed the second one and decided to wait for a big price drop like this one. I jumped on this deal.
