The problem is almost entirely people. so are you blaming Sony IT for not stopping the DDOS or for not being prepared for it?? Getting confused here. Few posts back you were upset because Sony didnt apologize, and prior to that because they gave you a 10% discount + 5 extra PS+ days.

Yes PEOPLE will always be the weakest link in just about anything, but it seems like some attitudes fuel the actions of groups like LS. Would they have even bother if people hadn't paid them any attention online? Did they accomplish their goal by getting people to vent via online because of the interruption? Always seems like these groups are just kids throwing temper tantrums and once the online world gets wind of their actions, they've secured their victory.

D - All of the above. I'm blaming them for not being better prepared to stop it sooner, and then being douchey about it after.

To be honest I have no idea why they attacked Sony, I also figured it's just a bunch of idiot kids being pranksters and getting a kick out of messing with a huge corporation.

They attacked sony and MS to expose big money corporations with lousy security. They accomplished their goal. Live was not back up much sooner was MS better prepared? No they just have better IT personel i completely understand the frustration. It however really didnt affect me as i worked christmas eve and day after christmas and i was playing FC4 offline before and during the outage. I am obsessed with that game. People are the main flaw in any system we really have away of being stupid when it comes to anything online . Its like people who put their phone number on FB i mean your really gonna give people access to your phone number? People you dont know personally. Will sony be prepared better next time? I hope so but am not holding my breath for them or MS to do any better next time. Both companies are money hungry and could care less it just so happens i like the exclusives on ps4 better than anything MS can offer. Hence why i bought a ps4.

If MS has better IT personnel, doesn't it stand to reason that they are better prepared?

Can you clarify this part of your statement: "Both companies are money hungry and could care less"? What point are you trying to make? Downtime on these networks cost these companies large amounts of lost revenue.

In my research there wasn't hardly any info about the USB hubs. A couple people posted that their old 2.0 hubs worked if you used an external power cable with it. Since info is rare on the subject, I just wanted to let people know that this 3.0 hub now exists and is geared directly to console owners and that it works well without a power cord.

No, yCbCr full range shouldn't even exist.

I can't find any info on that particular setting. Even Sony's explanation is vague. Video games look great with TV/PS4 on Full but Netflix seems to be crushing blacks but when I switch back to Limited on TV/PS4 I see no difference. Oh well.

I actually just watched parts of the same movie on my phone and noticed the same slightly crushed blacks. Well, they're not crushed. It's just the movie. I'm still wondering what that setting actually does.

I thought FULL mode was if you were using a computer monitor and doing computer things
(aka the old linux stuff the PS3 used to have)

Computer world uses RGB 0-255.

Right. Computer monitors use RGB 0-255. TV's use 16-235 ycbcr/RGB by default, but usually support RGB 0-255 also. Nothing uses ycbcr 0-255.

My PSN+ membership is up for renewal very soon. What's the best deal in likely to get and from where please?

Also am I correct that I can purchase Playstation store gift cards from GameStop and then use that to renew thru PS store? If they do the 10% off due to outages special in time that may at least be something.

You can use PS Store cards to purchase PS Plus. I don't know of any deals. I do occasionally see Paypal digital gifts offer discounted PS Plus/PS Store cards. Sony is supposed to be announcing this month the details of the 10% off. You will automatically receive a 5 day PS Plus extension credit due to the outage, so that will give you extra time to look for PS Plus deals.

Sony Computer Entertainment just issued a press release, stating that it has achieved the impressive figure of 18.5 million PS4 sold by the end of 2014.

The press release also mentioned that there are now 10.9 million of PlayStation Plus (PS+) subscribers as of January 2, 2015. President and CEO Andrew House reiterated the company’s intention to continue to increase the value of PlayStation 4 for customers in 2015 and beyond.

RGB yCbCr should be at auto or limited, it is for movies,tv,netflix, youtube, etc. doesn't effect games.

Any idea how soon they will be applying the 5 day extension? My expiration date is like 2 days from now based on my records. How can I check what the expiration date is in their system to see if they've extended it? When I log in to the PSN+ website I see all my account options and so forth but no where do they list the membership expiration date.

WHen I click on my Gamertag(or whatever Sony calls it)at the top of the https://my.playstation.com website, it shows me the expiration date for my PS+ membership.

Of course now that I just checked it again I realize that it is not showing the extra year I added last night. I redeemed one PS+ one year card last week that it shows the proper January 2016 expiration date for. But after redeeming another card for one year of PS+ last night, my new expiration date should be January 2017. I had purchased these cards in 2013 when they were $30 each.

EDIT: At least the transaction does show up in my transaction history. The first one I redeemed showed up right away though. So I wonder why the second one didn't extend the date another year like it should have.

EDIT: I do see that it is showing the correct 2017 expiration date for the PS+ games I downloaded.

Yeah something is weird about that page. Says my member ship is expired but the page with all my purchases says they expire on 4/4 which is accurate.

Not yet, but I'm planning on it very soon. If you get the STDR2000101, you can pull out the hard drive inside and it's the ST2000LM003 inside for $15 cheaper.

Thanks for the info...I only have 1 game, Last of Us, that I've downloaded and 1 game, FC4, that I'm using physical media. How do I transfer the info from the current PS4 HD to the the new HD? Can I transfer the info to an external HD like the one in the link and then use it to replace the current HD?

Just make sure all your games saves are there in the cloud first. The process of changing the hard drive is pretty fast. And no weird screws to deal with like there was with the PS3.

Don't you have to have a subscription to Play Station Plus to use the cloud? I do not have one.

Here we go: Upgrade PS4 HDD
