Thanks for the link! Just ordered my gun metal buttons.

Out of curiosity, and I do apologize if this has been discussed already, but what is the difference between Gen 1 and Gen 2 controllers? Is it just the L1 and R1 bumpers? I bought a new controller this past weekend and it is apparently still Gen 1 based on the serial number.

Scouring google, there seems to be some differences with the internals of the shell so that likely explains why some triggers don't work. That and some triggers had plastic springs? I think the latest has metal. I could be wrong.

Mine are CUH-ZCT1E. The latest seems to be, CUH-ZCT1H. http://www.sony.com.hk/product/plays...uy/en/27455420

Interesting the 1H is a 1000mAh battery. The 1E is 800mAh.

I have an issue I can't solve. Been watching blu-rays on my PS3 for years and then switched to the PS4 on launch day. Zero issues, looks/sounds great on the PS4 since launch day. Now all of a sudden, every Blu-ray I put in plays the movie in Stereo through my sound system. Connected via optical. I tried various settings in the PS4, reset the receiver, re-configured receiver, no luck. Weird thing is, when the movie's menu starts, the receiver switches to Dolby Digital, 6.1 or 7.1 accordingly and sounds great, but when the movie starts playing it switches to stereo. I go into the blu-ray menu, select Dolby digital, etc. etc. but no luck. I unplug the optical cable, plug it into the Xbox One and the movie plays in the proper format immediately. What the heck changed and what am I missing that I can't get a movie it play in something other than stereo???

The only thing I'd like to see work is my old Logitech driving controller with force-feedback. I tried looking at info on the Chronus, but I'm not sure if it would work? Without the FF, it's just not the same, and of course, a new driving controller is not only expensive, but bulky. Gaaah....

What's the best port for ps4 hook up? Should I run it directly to the TV via HDMI and then run the audio via optical to the receiver?

This is for gaming by the way and I have a Vision M60

If you have a capable receiver, I would run the HDMI into your receiver and HDMI out to TV.

Judging by the picture of your receiver below you should have more than enough HDMI inputs on the receiver to do what boltsfan21 suggests.

Based on the picture above, you can do what I suggested. Hooking up HDMI through receiver and out to TV will give you uncompressed sound.

I'm not really up to date on HDMI receiver technology. But isn't it possible you could be adding some significant latency to the pipeline that way? For gaming purposes that might be a bigger issue than using compressed sound.

New system update will add folders! Public beta begins tomorrow.

Quote:
UI Refresh
We’ve made a lot of adjustments and improvements to PS4’s main user interface. That includes some changes you may notice right away, like new system backgrounds and a revised What’s New tab, to smaller changes like updated popup notifications and redesigned system icons. As a whole, it all adds up to a more refined and easy to use UI. The overall look and feel of the UI remains the same — it just has a fresh coat of paint.
Quick Menu
As you know, pressing and holding the PS button on your DualShock 4 brings up the Quick Menu. We’ve overhauled this menu to make it faster and easier to use. One big change is that the menu now only covers a portion of the screen, meaning you don’t need to leave gameplay entirely.
We’ve added several new items to the Quick Menu, letting you quickly get info without having to back to the home screen. You can see the online status of your friends, and shortcuts to quickly access your Party, Favorite Groups, Communities, and more. You can also customize the Quick Menu, removing or adding items as you see fit.
Share Menu
We’ve given a similar overhaul to the Share Menu, which appears once you press the Share button on your DualShock 4. Like the Quick Menu, it only covers a portion of the screen. It will save the last social network you shared video clips or screenshots to, making the process of sharing a screenshot or video a bit faster and more streamlined.
You can also upload longer video clips to Twitter (was 10 seconds, now up to 140 seconds).
Folders and Library Organization
One of the big requests we get is for more options to organize content on PS4. With this update, we’re adding functionality to create folders on PS4’s content launcher and Library. This will help collect your favorite games and select apps in one place for quick and easy access.
We’re also making some pretty big changes to the Library. We’ve added a new tab called Purchased, which will show all of the content you own — games, applications, demos, and betas you’ve participated in. As a result, the Games and Applications tabs focus on content currently installed on your system. This should help de-clutter your library, and make it faster to find the content you’re looking for.
There are some new sorting tools for your Library as well. You’ll be able to sort content by purchase date or install status, and search for specific games and apps via text input.
Trophy Improvements
This update brings the ability to view the Trophy offline. You’ll see a new “offline mode” option if your system is unable to connect to the network, letting you view your entire Trophy collection without an Internet connection.
We’ve also added a button that will let you view the content of a Hidden Trophy. The Trophy will still be hidden by default, but you can now choose to show the Trophy name and info.
Lastly, we’re changing the icons that show how rare a Trophy is. Instead of four boxes that fill, the icon looks like a pyramid with the ultra-rare Trophies at the top.
User Profile
We’ve updated the look of the User Profile, making it easier to see relevant info for a player at-a-glance. For instance, you can now see your Trophy progress compared with another player right from their profile. You can also add a background image to your own profile — perhaps a screenshot you took in one of your favorite games.

Question for you owners.

I am looking into jumping into PS Vue service, and the best I can tell there is not a reason to wait on the newer slim model. Not worried about a Neo, I have UHD disc capability now as well as Amazon and Netflix UHD, the PS4 would be the main device for Vue and backups for streaming services.

Anything you guys have seen to warrant waiting until 9/7, or just move ahead with a PS4 console now? I figure the current model is tried and true, and gaming is not a concern.

The new slim model (just leaked yesterday) is likely to be cheaper, my guess is $299. The slim might also run cooler and quieter. And original PS4's might be cheaper than that as retailers try to get rid of remaining stock. I'd suggest waiting unless you have to have it immediately.

Cheaper was the one thing I was wondering. Looks like the "fat" is running around $350 right now.

I hope gamestop will have a generous trade in deal. Because I will most definitely trade in my 2013 PS4 for a Slim PS4 if the power usage is way down.

question for those who have moved from one PS4 model to another - how do you migrate everything off the HDD (game saves, digital games, etc) to the new model ?
I'd like to know when considering moving from my current PS4 to the new Neo

You might be able to just swap the HDD into the PS4K, we'll know more on September 7th.

Hopefully the PS4K will have a SATA 6Gb/s interface, which would facilitate using an SSD in the console.

Looking at Sony's previous history, when do you foresee what is announced 9/7 going on sale? Would the new slim version be pretty quick?

Rumor is both the Slim and the PS4K will be announced, with actual retail availability coming on or shortly after the 7th.

Again, until we hear directly from Sony it's all conjecture.

I did some reading on the CUH1000, 1100 and current 1200. I went ahead with a CoD version (1200) and it will be here Thu. Going to move forward with getting on board with Vue and setting up Amazon.

Anyone interested in the game disc let me know, I won't be using it for that.

Thanks.
