Yeah, I wasn't referring to the ogre, just the hunter from the Alpha that drags his blade along the ground and starts kicking everybody's arse.
To have Gascoigne in the Cleric Beast fight, you need to skip the Cleric Beast when you first get to the bridge. You continue in the normal path and go kill Gascoigne instead (as the first boss. He's in fact the first real boss since Cleric Beast is an optionnal fight). Once he's dead, he can be summoned outside of the Cleric Beast fight

He's not dragging a blade, Father Gascoigne is using the Hunter Axe tho...

The weapon the user is using are also found later in the game (not a starter weapon, Blade of Mercy), same with the outfit

Nice. I need to get around killing the final boss (not the best ending ) and then starting a new play through. I am too much of a pansy to do NG+ but maybe it is worth trying.

With DLC coming, it will be a good time to start a new play through with a different build for the new weapons maybe! (If you're scared of NG + )

Yes, I'll have to avoid the Hunter Axe and maybe try the Pimp Cane and Kirk hammer as well as other weapons.

Actually to summon Gasciogne you need to acquire one point of insight, believe the first skull is found in the sewers, crack it and consume it. Go back to the dream, to receive the summoning bell, then back to yharnam. Go down the steps near Gilbert (dude near first ladder you climb), and to the left of the hunter/enemy standing there is a puddle of rippling light. Ring the bell there and Gasciogne will come to your aid. If you kill him first it wont work.

I suggest clearing the path up to the cleric beast first, before summoning him as it is possible for the enemies to kill him if he takes too much damage.

This also works with what his name is that wears the executioner garb. If you befriend him outside of old yharnam you can summon him before fight the blood-starved beast, just have to have insight points.

Great news about the DLC.
Can't wait to go back.
I think I left the game in a NG plus 4 or 5. Wonder too if my progress will carry over.

Thanks for the clarification!

The other NPC you can summon is Alfred.

Anyone want to get some practice in this weekend and get the rust off? I (sadly) still need to platinum this sucker.

Some giant fire dog killed me in the chalice dungeon and I never was able to defeat him. I was not a big fan of that part of the game anyways but he looked cool when fighting him.

Oh you are totally screwed then!

Rusty Hunter skillz, and as FM noted, veryyyy nasty CD bosses ahead. You may was well pack up your trick evil looking dentist tools, head back to the dream, kick old Gehrman out of his stupid steampunk wheelchair and settle in for a nice eternal slumber.

Bought one of those too, and I never buy guides for games. Bloodborne is just awesome. I've had a lot of fun just helping people coop some bosses recently. Can't wait to start the DLC

I've been considering this game, but I honestly don't know, it's not generally my type of game, especially ones that are aggravatingly difficult. But I do say it looks fun from the streams I've watched.

The difficulty I would say you get used to early on in the game. The main thing is dropping your current souls, which you have the ability to go back and get. Game is really good, and at used prices, it's a no brainer.

Not worried about price. I snag everything I can digitally so I'd be looking at the "ultimate edition" or w/e I saw on PSN for $50 that comes with the DLC

If you know what to expect in terms of difficulty, you wont be as frustrated. Few games offer such a feeling of gratification once you finally beat that boss thats been holding you up. Tough, but well worth it.

This isn't as much controller smashing rage as the other Souls games...it is but isn't. Lol get that big boss within 5% health and die on your 4th attempt...Yea fkn game, but the others were worse

The first hour was probably the hardest hour to make progress, maybe the first 2 hours. Father G destroyed me several times. After that the game opens up quite a bit letting you explore multiple areas, you will be dying but you also be leveling, getter stronger and better at the game in the process.

I can't remember how quickly you can summon help but that makes progressing much easier, especially for the bosses that can be major hurdles to advancing.
