That would be really infuriating.

I just found this on the Ubisoft site:

“There will be another Title Update available in early November, which will most notably include 4K and Dolby Atmos support for Xbox One X and support of HDR displays for all platforms.”

Have it imagine PS4 would be part of that.

Wow. What type of non-sense is this? Maybe a typo. I'm sure if it doesn't, we'll just have to wait for an update.

Follow-up: I'm playing the Xbox One version of Assassin's Creed Origins, and it's not HDR -- despite the box art saying it has the feature.

So currently there's no HDR enabled version of the game. We'll see when the November update hits which systems unlock HDR for this game, but I would bet PS4 will get the feature also.

I saw this article showing Microsoft One X games that will be HDR. I'd expect any of the multi-platform games should also be HDR on PS4.

I have the game and its not HDR. I was actually a bit surprised when I started playing and didn't see HDR turn on.

Hopefully the November update brings HDR to the PS4. On a side note, how do you like the game?

Played it all weekend, hit ~lvl 22.

I love Assassin's Creed games, and Origins looks to be one of the best. Not as much verticality in ancient Egypt, and the story can't beat the turn of the century England of Syndicate, but gameplay has been improved a lot. Lots of RPG-like loot, upgrades, & skill tree. It takes an hour or two to get used to the new engine, but it quickly gels together to form yet another solid AC game.

If you like any of the previous games from the series, highly recommended.

I do have the game. I'm only a few hours in. I plan on getting back into the game tonight. I love the Assassin's Creed games as well. They are probably my favorite franchise after the Uncharted games. My favorite Assassin's Creed game is Black Flag. I would rank Syndicate as my second favorite. I'm not used to the new engine yet but hopefully that changes as I play more. Ancient Egypt does look pretty incredible in the game. Can't wait to see what HDR will do. I see a lot of people are complaining about the loot, but I don't have any issues with it. I really like using Senu. I'm not to that point yet, but I'm glad Ubisoft brought back naval combat. Origins does seem to be a pretty solid release for me as well.

It looks like the HDR patch is supposedly out for Assassin's Creed Origins. Can anyone confirm and see how it looks?

HDR patch is out now. Patch notes says it adds HDR to PS4. It's still downloading so I'll check it out when it finishes.

EDIT: I just checked it out. HDR looks pretty good. I had to adjust the settings since HDR was really bright at first. There is an HDR setting with two adjustment options in the menu now. One is Maximum Luminance and the other is called Paper White setting. There is also a new setting that allows you to turn HDR off.

I'd like to know this as well. The only info I've seen on this is that HDR is coming "Soon" - but that was right around the time of release.

You can add Call or Duty WWII to the list. Supports HDR and I think it looks pretty decent, but I’m only on the first mission. Explosions and mortar fire in the opening D-Day sequence looked pretty spectacular. PS4 Pro version gets a nice resolution bump, and I think texture filitering is better or a bi-product of the higher resolution.

Also, it should be mandatory for all games supporting HDR to offer both black and white point settings for HDR. Some games have it, others don’t. I find it useful to not only avoid clipping, but to make sure the game is mapping to your specific display properly.

Added, thanks.

How's the HDR on the current release version on PS4? I'm playing on XB1X, and the in-game HDR looks very good, but the cut-scenes and some menus look terrible in HDR.

It's the same thing on the PS4 Pro. In game it looks pretty good but it looks washed out on cut-scenes and menus. From an article I read earlier this morning, EA is aware of the HDR issues on the the XB and PS4. Hopefully it gets fixed soon. I thought they would have fixed it after the BETA since it was messed up on there as well.

I noticed tonight that LA Noire now has HDR. I hadn’t played for a few days, and it did download a new update. I’m almost certain it did not previously have HDR, so I think it may have come in the update. Strangely, the update notes make no mention of it.

I'm trying to help my son play Horizon Zero Dawn on his (original) PS4 in HDR with our new JVC RS540 projector. The projector and AVR (Denon X4300H) are HDR enabled and we watch UHD discs and ATV 4K streaming/HDR with no problems.

The problem we have with HZD and PS4 (w/ HDR and deep color set to auto) is that the image looks terrible with much of the screen a blown out pink color. So something is going wrong, but I don't quite understand what. Would definitely appreciate some tips/troubleshooting ideas.

Sounds like a bad HDMI cable. Have you tried swapping it out and trying another?

  • Make certain you have modern high speed 18Gb/s HDMI cables that's not too long (6 feet works best) connecting between the Playstation and the Denon and the Denon and the Projector.
  • Check the Denon is passing through the signal and not scaling to 4K
  • If the Denon has dual HDMI out ports, disable the second one so that only one port is being used.
  • Check for a setting on your projector to enable HDMI Color Subsampling -- sometimes called things like "HDMI UHD Color", "Full UHD Color", "Ultra Deep HD Color", etc..
