So Nintendo attempts to lock you out from using non-official docks. However, there's quite a few Chinese docks on the market that skirt around that by imitating the Nintendo device ID.

So for best results, you'll want to use the official Nintendo dock. I personally bought an extra of those, and put the guts into a smaller 3D printed plastic shell:

That being said, I've got one of these no-name Chinese docks in my daily bag also:

It seems to work well, and also supports DeX mode on my Galaxy Note. Plus I like how the cable sort of seats in place.

There is also the Nyko portable dock kit, but I've read stories about the power adapter included with that portable dock kit frying people's Switch ports.

One thing to note is that the docks do not work unless powered by a 45W USB-PD adapter. I use the official Google Pixelbook one, since there's a ton of poorly made USB-C chargers that can damage devices.

It's a little bit amusing to me that that FastSnail adapter says:

Quote:

DISSIPATE HEAT - The heat dissipation of Nintendo Switch Dock is not so good and it makes the console hot. But use our HDMI adapter, you will never worry about this problem.
...when in order to use it, you place the Switch on its back which then blocks intake vents. Whereas if you use the official dock there's a small gap between the Switch and the dock so it can still pull air in.
