+1 - monitor envy big time now.

Of course I'll have to build a new rig to drive something like that....

Ok, Display Cable is here and installed. Freesync is running. Here is a 21 minute video of Elite Dangers Horizons. I'll try and do a planet landing next since that should give some good graphics as well.

Tomb Raider never looked better! It made me want to play it again right now. But I won't do it until I upgrade my monitor and GPU over the next 2-3 months. How far away are you sitting from the monitor? I want to sit no farther away than 3'. So I'm thinking 34" may be just right. While 43"+ may actually be too big for sitting that close. BTW...loved your chit chat with the kids. Always good to wedge their glee between the wife's snarl to help rope in her buy in.

I'm 2' or less from the Monitor. My eye level is about maybe the lower 1/3 and it feels very comfortable. I forgot I had the settings set to record audio from us and not just the game. which is why you got the interaction of my son and I. This game was running in the mid 60's for the most part.

Sword Coast Legends finally dips under $10. I know it was roundly panned but maybe as an old school experience it's playable?

Many list a con as "it's too easy" but I'm actually in the mood for an easy romp.

I was thinking about this game too ... SCL, noticed the company that made/patched
game is gone... I believe ?

If so, could be waste of $10...

Noticed on steam that single player has fewer bugs, the problems come in multi or co-op mostly

Have till May 24 on the sale to decide..

I'm not really worried about multi-play.

I"m interested mostly in the single player campaign and downloading some fan made modules.

Also - some times these things continue to get worked on even after official development ends. Gothic 3 is probably the best example of this.

The community took a flawed product and patched it into what up to this point is probably the last great single player PC-only RPG.

If you have Dead Island in your Steam account and haven't touched it since launch it might be worth a re-look.

I remember buying it at or near release and being turned off by the buggy mess. The potential was there but the developers tried way too hard to feature the co-op aspect. Playing an iffy single player with multi-player ghosts wandering around constantly bugging me to join was a bit to much.

It's not like that anymore. The single player is much tighter and easier to follow. Combat seems more focused as well. You'll still get some multiplayer join request but they're chat only and much easier to ignore.

I might finally see this thing through.

I never got all that far into it but I remember liking it a lot. I seem to remember it being marketed as a different game than what it was though. It definitely was less of a "Dead Rising" action game and more of a Borderlands-type loot game except with melee and zombies.

Is something recently added? I bought it for 6 bucks or so, quite a while ago. Played through it already. Not sure I'd get enough from it to play again.

How long ago did you play it? It came out late 2011 and I'm pretty sure I grabbed it during the 2011 Christmas sale.

As far as I know it's sort of been incrementally patched since then. I don't recall everything the way it was back then so I could be wrong, but:

1) The combat seems better

2) the zombie's AI and general motion has been improved

3) the map is better

4) the graphics have been streamlined. Ex. - the other survivors look much better. The game is less laggy. When I first played it Dead Island seemed to have a microstutter problem.

5) as I wrote before: you don't have those annoying multi-player ghosts running around everywhere bugging you to join. I guess that could be because so many fewer people are playing but I don't care. It's a welcome change.

I never once encountered any multiplayer anything. I played solo. So I've propably played what you describe. I don't recognize any of those issues.

As far as I recall I was only playing single player as well. I definitely remember all of the transparent avatars running around asking me to join.

They must have patched that out pretty quickly. When I played it the other day I got some join requests but didn't see a single ghost. The game was much smoother, and maybe that's why.

This is probably going to be the first Steam sale where I don't buy anything. Sure I have a bunch of stuff on my wishlist, but I'm not looking to play them right now, and the few games I would be, are going to have to be super cheap.

I like to think that I will not buy anything, but then something always comes up and next thing you know $60 goes out the window.

Yeah. Same here.

I've got enough games and the ones I want... I already own or aren't out yet.

But..... we say such things. I'll probably grab some cheap piece of crap because it was "cheap". Ugh.

Steams down already of course, but in the brief instant that I saw the sale it looks like a resounding "meh".
