Wow, I just found out about this game. Holy crap I can finally play a Forza game with a great wheel (my G27). I may have to dumb down the settings as I've only got a GTX 970, but it should still be ok. Right?

Edit: I just uploaded a bunch of music to Onedrive. Did anyone get their own music up and running in-game? Also, I don't suppose this game supports Atmos?

Hit my longest jump earlier tonight off a hill at the airport. 1,382.4 feet, with 5.63 seconds of air time.

I got it up and running on my lower end computer running a gtx 760. It's running fine at 1080p but the draw in is crap. I had some curse words flowing trying to get it set up on my HT computer until I realized that I didn't have it updated to the anniversary update for windows. What a PITA. I'll post thoughts after trying it with my g27.

Vizio sets with 120hz 1080, HDR (both standards) and FALD aren't much more expensive than high end PC-based UHD monitors, that are IPS without FALD and without 10-bit panels and without HDR. You pay more, and get less. Lots of PC gamers play on TVs.

I recommend people do not buy PC monitors until they add HDR10 and with proper 10-bit panels, and of course FALD. Ideally VA panels too.

The only reason to buy a PC monitor over a TV is to get a 1440p one that has G-sync or Freesync and 144hz. That's what I'm typing on now. But trust me, when I play games, my old trusty w1070p 1080p 60hz projector is a far more engaging experience overall. Kinda hard to compete 138 inch screens with a 27inch one. And the same goes for a 55 inch TV vs a 27 inch PC monitor. TV is going to be super awesome. 65ms input lag isn't ideal, but within a year or two that should be sorted out.

PC monitors have been stagnating for years and TVs are just so much more economical sense, in square inch & image quality & features / dollar.

Actually Star Wars battlefront on the PC has amazing ATMOS - will be in battlefield 1 and mass effect

Mass effect is confirmed to have Dolby vision also (no hdr10). I am betting bf1 is the same since engine the same

Easy to promise a feature. It's another thing to deliver on said 'feature'.

Atmos should be available to any game engine that can support it.

Yes good point. Battlefield Star Wars looks great in 1080p and sounds great in ATMOS

It's impressive in the hoth level with the ships overhead. It is actually on one of the demo disks too to try yourself

Got my Logitech G27 up and running in the game. It works well, but the force feedback seems pretty weak. Still, it's nice being able to shift and control the braking so much better than with a gamepad. Custom resolutions work as well so for those running a 21:9 setup like me, it's great having it on PC.

I've been playing it at 4k ultra detail locked at 30fps. I do have msaa turned off. The detail is amazing on 4k on my Sony 65" 850c, even when you get up close to the screen. The textures are incredibly sharp. Reflections and shadows are SO much better than on the xbox.

I'm running an intel i5 with a gtx 980ti. I notice a drop in FPS very rarely, but it does happen. Not enough to make me drop the resolution or detail though. 4k ultra just looks so good!

My only issue is that HDR isn't supported on pc so I have to choose between 4k ultra on PC or running it on xbox at what seems to be medium-high detail in 1080p. BUT.. I get HDR using the xbox. I still switch back and forth a lot. The lighting and colors in HDR are spectacular, but the graphics detail is just...good.

Just been grinding out the races and championships. Got like 13 championships left, then just bucket lists, PR stunts, and street races. Some of the bucket list challenges are such a pain, as well as the offroad speed zones. I'm within 5mph on so many of those speed zones and just can't get the last few mph. 100%ing this is going to be annoying.

My mildly overclocked 1080 Founders has no issues running this at 4K maxed out with 4x MSAA. It does dip into the 40s but rarely.

I do notice that sometimes the sense of speed isn't there though. Also some mild stuttering.

I just installed a copy on my re-built Win10 rig, my son got it as a digital download on XO so I snagged his windows edition.

With everything set to default (ultra I think) I was getting something like 45-55fps on my 980 [email protected] during the initial "first run to the hub" inside that Lamborghini. Problem is my Vizio TV/Monitor is only 43", while my projector (Sony 1080p hw-50es) is 110". I'm tempted to simply run it at 1080p and let Nvidia DSR handle an upscale to 4K (and then feed the PJ a 1080 signal), so I don't have to play it on the small screen (racing games in particular I enjoy the 'slightly bigger than real life' effect of my projected image).

I loved Horizon, but was fairly disappointed with Horizon 2, I completed it just to complete it...felt like I was playing a Horizon DLC pack, it looked like absolute ass on the XO (some of those stone walls reminded me of Wolfenstein 3D with their rectangular shape and lack of parallax mapping) and overall I was just plain not thrilled with it. Horizon 3 looks to reverse that trend with a more interesting location and a larger variety of vehicles. What I saw in the initial opening 'race to the hub in your new Lambo" felt like...well...more of the same, like I'd played this all before...twice...but I'll give it a chance....4K looked clean, but it also didn't look much better than 1440p. Again, I spent very little time with it...I think I need to see some cities and not the ever-present 'rocky cliff wall' that is always ever-present in every racing game....

I gotta ask: How much time am I going to spend trying to drive exotic cars through repetitive sprite-based trees........ =|

It's a slog through the first few hours doing all the intro stuff. Once you've opened your second festival and unlocked more events, there will be less hand-holding and more variety of events to partake.

Give it a good 3-5hrs one night and blow through all the early crap. Then buy yourself a car or two (that you want) and enjoy a good drive.

Agreed, that's one of the things I particularly liked about this one. You can grab one car you really like, and you can do all the exhibition and championship races in that car if you want. It doesn't force you to use other cars. If you go to a race event and don't like the car selection, use the blueprint feature and set it up to use the cars you want.

Ok, only about an hour into the whole thing......I honestly wasn't sure if I could get past the premise of this one. I mean, they've taken everything I hated about the previous games and made it.....uh..."More Stupider" From the "Rich Dbag of Instagram" avatar selection to the over-use of the words Party, Hot Cars, and Party......I feel like I should be running over these Millennials, not hanging with them. Ok, so I'm a cranky middle aged man now......I can't relate to these clowns. "Who buys these cars for you, you're ALL 24 years old!"

I digress

Here's my big issue: This game kinda sucks at 60fps, but it's spot-on perfect at 30fps.

Maybe it's because every Horizon game is 30fps, maybe its because the engine, the animation, the CONTROLS in particular, seem designed for 30fps......flip that switch and get it running at 60 and suddenly it all feels wrong, it looks pretty but it doesn't feel crisp and responsive. The game is responsive, but the controls feel like they're designed for 30. Playing from 3rd person is an exercise in over-correction for me, which is a first for a Horizon game (and this is at 30 or 60fps so its clear I'm going to have to adjust to the game), but in cockpit even when I was running at 60fps.....it sorta felt like 30. And it felt...wrong. As soon as I locked it in at 30fps with VSYNC, suddenly the game was just "correct". The controls felt like they belonged there (but I'm still over-compensating in 3rd person), and the cars on the road moved at a speed I expected them to move at, what have you.

I do not play Horizon with a wheel, I learned early on with the 360 version, and maybe that is my problem...at 60fps, with a wheel, maybe it makes sense. But with a pad....my preferred method for a Horizon game (as I like to jump between cockpit and 3rd person mode to admire the eye candy and reckless driving).....I'm just not feeling it. I was in cockpit at 60fps and bumps and dips in the road were happening so fast it made me feel like my car had a suspension made of wood, but at 30fps it felt like my car was bottoming out on dips in the road properly...as if when at 60fps, the animation or something inside the cockpit simply happened too quickly....it's hard to pin down, it just felt....off

This is a quick observation, I played a bit at 30fps and was enjoying it......but not at 60, with a pad. I'll give it some more love tomorrow, but in the mean time, you may commence your mocking in 3....2...........have at it.

Switched my game to 30fps for gameplay last night. So far...I kinda liked it.

Will continue with this setting and report back.

Welp, I now have only 1 achievement left to get, the bucket list one, but I can't do these last 2 challenges, I can't figure them out. #19 and #23.

19 should be easy but I can't get more than 148ish mph.

23 I run out of time about a mile from the finish, can't figure out how anyone even finished it.

And finally, after taking a break, watching some vids on the challenges, and spending some time trying them over and over, I knocked them both out.

1000/1000 gamerscore and 100% in-game completion!

Woo!

At least until the expansions come out.

See, this I regard as a desperate cry for help with a gambling problem, possible self-esteem issues

However, I'm also one to drink of the Kool Aid and congratulate you, fellow gamer, on your tenacity!!
