RTX 2070 Super

Well let the waiting begin. Just put my back order down for the EVGA RTX 2070 Super XC Ultra. This will be a huge upgrade over my
R9 290X! Can't wait to check out some of my older games so well as some Ray traycing titles.

This should drive my 2560x1080 monitor perfectly.

Sweet! I'm sticking with Red Team and Ryzen on my next build. Especially since Xbox PC/Halo/XBLive/Access will be optimized along with Scarlett with AMD architecture. That's not to say that Team Green won't deliver blistering specs/performance (it will!). I'm just going to stick with HW spec compatibility...and hope it translates to better gaming between PC and Console systems. I have to admit that my RX580 Red Dragon is giving me every thing I want in PC gaming for the time being. I saw no need to flip it for a Vega 56 or 64. But after I upgrade my Mobo, CPU and memory next year...the newer AMD GPUs will be in play. Their "super sharpening" tech is quite impressive to me. So too the NVidia RT.

I'd hold off on Navi until NAVI20 is out. That's when they are supposed to include Ray traycing. If they would have done that with 5700xt if would have gone with AMD, but sadly that want the case

Im waiting on the most power efficient, quietest, coolest option. Going to try and wait until intel shows up, then get my best candidate. My 980ti still handles 3440 res.

3440x1440 is what I consider the sweet spot in gaming resolution. Love that ultra wide resolution

Hopefully Intel can reinvigorate the GPU race. Right now, most of what is offered is high priced boringness. Unfortunately, our future for high-end visuals seems destined for widespread streaming exclusivity.

Ok, RTX 2070 Super installed. Windows 10 being windows gave me problems. It seemed that after I uinstalled the ADM driver and rebooted it didn't like something and would not accept my password or pin. I troubleshooted that for a few hours before finally just reformatting and doing a new Win 10 install. Second problem was unbeknownst when I connected my Vive HDMI cable I never seated it properly. This caused it to have stuttering and mouse lag. This was confusing me for the longest time. Wasn't sure if my monitor (Freesync) wasn't playing nice with the Nividia drivers or what! It wasn't until this morning that when I installed the Vive software that I caught that mistake. Once I plugged it in all the way (heard a click) stuttering went away! Everything is now smooth as silk and running extremely well at Ultra setting with frames in the 100+ most of the time. All in All very satisfied with this purchase. It's been a huge upgrade over the 290X as shown by the picture below on what those results were.

My RTX 2070 Super shut down during gameplay because of overheating
But the light on the card was green
Shouldn't it be red for the card to shut down?
I have a Gainward card

make sure to use the highest bandwidth displayport 1.4 cable if you want best 4k performance. i use this one for my 1080ti and 34inch alienware. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07J2PGGFX...ding=UTF8&th=1

many cables cant display over 120hz. hdmi cables arent usually top tier capable.

I doubt that your card is overheating. Surely you have other GPU-bound games with which to test this.

Other people have reported crash issues in Metro Exodus when using DX12 and ray tracing. Ensure that you are using the latest Nvidia drivers.

If your PC sometimes just simply shuts off, make sure that your power supply is up to the task of handling the system under load.

What is the brand and model of the power supply? Overall wattage does not tell the whole story. Suitable amperage on the 12V rail is critical.

I was about to order up a 2070 super. As soon as I could figure out the ones that match my requirements. I thought my GPU had gone bad. MY pc kept shutting down at the start of a game. But, I think it's my PSU. I have a 860w platinum seasonic. I switched it out for my 660w and it runs. Still might order one... Wanting to run some games in 4k.

According to newegg this PSU has a 7yr warranty. So, I'll have to see if I can get them to work on it.

660W should be fine. Mine is only 700. Though it's going 6 years. *Knock on wood* hopefully it will last a bit longer.

To bad you can't trade it in for a NewEgg card. Do you know which one you want? I Have been very happy with my EVGA XC Ultra.

Not really. I've been contemplating vs 2080/2070 too. As I've been looking, some of them have gone out of stock. As it is right now, most everything is out of stock. I would like to get a 2 fan one without the extra hump that goes above the back PCI bracket. That way I can put it in my HT case if I wanted to move it to the different case.

I could get the FE at best buy for $629/$450.

The MSI gaming x trio 2080s is $750. But, that limits me to my big ass case. I think it's pretty much the same size as my current 980ti.

I was going to try and go with the MSI tri-fan, but it wanted 2 8-pin connectors. I only had and 8 and 6. Went with the EVGA instead and glad I did. This card has been excellent. It's hit 2010Mhz on the boost clock!

Not an issue for me, my current card needs two 8pins and one 6pin. That $629 2080s is sooo tempting me right now.

The 2070 Super offers much better price-to-performance in most games. But, then again, the price difference between the two is only a few cancelled steak dinners in favor of Ramen. You only live once... or twice... but never thrice.

Well, I decided to get the 2070, since it was in store. Put my 10% coupon to use. With the intention of using this thing later in an eGPU box with my laptop. I tell you the aesthetics of th FE cooler looks way better than any of the 3rd party cards I've seen. It's a small boon vs the limited specs I'll have to deal with.

While I was at best buy I spied this gaming PC they were selling from ibuypower. It had the most amazing side panel I've ever seen. It was a see through glass LCD video screen of some sort. I remember these things at CES or some show, in days past. But then they were being touted as just a display panel. This company used that tech to make their damn side panel window. It was the slickest thing I've ever seen. It was playing some best buy video, of course.

Ok that video is a turd, this one is better. I think this is the exact model on display in BB too.

Well ****, didn't realize that when I reformatted C: and Windows that I lost my XMP settings on my RAM. I reset the RAM to XMP settings and was able to get another 110 points higher (5770) out of Firestrike. Not only that, but No Man's Sky saw a huge improvement as well!

That wasn’t an option with BLD and the 2Tb SSDs are for my games and windows. The hard drive is for all other stuff
