This is an FYI. My BDP-95 stopped working is such that I wouldn't play. I emailed OPPO, and they suggested some work-arounds that didn't work. They then suggested that I send the unit in for repair, the cost being $119.00 USD for parts/labor/shipping. My shipping was extra.
Turn around was 1 week. Good service/price considering that a new player would be $1,000.00+ for a 205 or other.
RichB and glangford like this.

Mine still works fine, but I'm considering sending it in anyway for a thorough cleaning and a new loader. I'm still shopping for a dedicated CD/SACD player to replace it, but really can't find a decent one that doesn't cost 3 grand +. For that, I might as well just keep my 95.

Tray closes by itself

Just wanted to share my experience with a misbehaving disc loader in a BDP-93 (same mechanism as the -95).

From a cold start I'd open the drawer to insert a disc. Drawer would open, then without warning, start to close after 1 to 10 seconds, sometimes catching me setting the disc into the tray, but not completely. Ouch. Once closed, it stayed closed and played fine.

This happened randomly but regularly for the last few months, but as I also have a UDP-203 in the system, it was not an urgent matter.

After hearing some folks had success with applying compressed air for trays that would not stay closed, thought I'd try that. To avoid using canned air, I fired up the pneumatic tool compressor in the garage, and applied short blasts through the 4 holes at the top of the drive (rubber plugs removed), and into the front of the mechanism with the tray extended (power off).

So far, there's been no recurrence of the problem.
