Has sacd-r playback been eliminated on the 751bd?

Query History

Dear Sir, thanks for your inquiry.
Yes it has. It and BD-ISO were removed from the blu ray standard. Unfortunately it is no longer possible for us to license our Blu-Ray players with these file playback formats. This licensing change applies retrospectively and as such as well as removing this format from new players, we have had to remove it from units that have already been sold. This is the first time that we have ever had to do this and we are aware that it may be frustrating for people who have been using this feature prior to this software release. Please be assured that we did not take this decision lightly. The penalties for continuing to allow playback are very severe and would have a serious effect on the company if we were caught and punished.

As this is a change brought about by licensing requirements we cannot supply the old firmware and any future firmware updates will continue to have this feature removed.

I am sorry I cannot be more help in this instance.

Cambridge Audio Azur 751BD (streaming support)

Hello there,

I hope, that I am posting in a right place, since I could not find any better thread where to ask about my Azur 751bd.

I used to stream online radios a lot on my computer and I wanted to ask you,if there is any option how to stream radios on my Azur device. Is it possible? I tried to save URL as a .m3u playlist, but Cambridge just recognised playlist "without songs". Maybe there is some special way how to set up .m3u playlist files or another way, how to deal with that?

Thanks for help!
Glucio

SACD-R playback was eliminated with firmware v16-0605.

The good news is that you can downgrade the firmware to v11-0923

This will allow you to play SACD-R discs as well as BluRay iso files with full menus.
It will not play SACD iso files.
It will play most DVD-A-R audio discs.
It will play BD-R audio discs with full menus.

It will play discs with BDMV folders recorded to a DVD disc burnt with Imgburn.
It is hopeless MKV file player, it crashes every time I try to fast forward or back.
It will not play DSD or dff files on an USB drive.

Instructions to downgrade are the same as the early Oppos.....
STANDARD/BASIC MOD:
1. Disconnect ethernet, and any USB devices and power up the player with no disc in the tray.
2. When it displays "no disc" wait for approx 4-5 seconds, and press GREEN-2-2 on the remote.
3. Press "setup" on remote.
4. Scroll down to "Device setup"
5. Place the bar on "Firmware Upgrade"
6. Press RED-8-5-2-0 on the remote.
7. Exit menu again by pressing setup button, NOT the ok button.
8. Now you can downgrade the firmware with the use of a usb stick, just follow the usual instructions from Oppo.
PRO MOD:
1 Disconnect ethernet, and any USB devices, and power up the player with no disc in the tray.
2 Press "setup" on remote
3 Scroll down to "Device setup"
4 Place the bar on "Firmware Upgrade"
5 Press RED-8-5-2-0 on the remote.
6 In this menu, press 1-1-4 on the remote.
7 Exit menu again by pressing setup button, NOT the ok button.
8 Now you can downgrade the firmware with the use of a usb stick, just follow the usual instructions from Oppo.

You can download the firmware from the net... you will need to search.
Both A & B versions are in a file which is 108,553kb
Remember not to connect the 751BD to the net any more.

UPDATE

I found out the 751BD will play DVD Audio iso files. You can select all the audio options such as stereo or DTS etc
Just open the iso as a Movie.

I have 14-0413 and I found the older firmware. I'll give it a shot soon.

Here I am three years and seven days later to tell you all that the downgrade worked. I loaded a SACD-R of Depeche Mode Violator from the Anthology torrent and voila. I did the downgrade maybe a year or two ago but never had the time to post until now. It works just like the instructions say. I found the .bin on audioplanet.

HI there,

Very informative [email protected]'ve tried to google this firmware but am coming up blank.

Can you possibly flick me a link to where you found this firmware (if it's still there), or, if not, I don't suppose you still have a copy of it lying around?

Many thanks
dmonds
