Guys,

I desperately need your help. I bought the BDP-450 3 months ago to connect to my TV via HDMI for both video and sound, and to my Projector - running the sound for it to my old AV amp via digital coaxial (the reason i bought it, my amp has no hdmi).

At first all ok, then i went to play another BD on the projector and the sound is distorted through the amp, and goes quiet and loud etc. I checked the settings, PCM etc, everything ok. I reset the Pioneer, no change.

Any ideas? I have no idea why this has suddenly happened.

Best,

Dan

Hey Dan,

That's a real bummer.
Did you try another coaxial input on the receiver? How about another cable? If yes and the second input/cable still had distortion, try another digital component, like an old CD or DVD unit, with your existing cable. If the different player still has distortion, then you know it is not the Pioneer and the receiver is faulty.

I hope this helps. Good luck,

RT

I posted in the BDP62 FD thread but it does not appear to be active so posting the same question here.

I am having difficulty accessing the SETUP menu on my player.

Some times it works and other times it does not!
When it does work ( after multiple tries) i am never able to make the change i want before the screen goes off after about a minute or two.

I know this is not normal so i wonder what the fix is.

Thanks for your help.

Does anybody who owns the Pioneer Elite BDP 63 (or any previous models from the last year or two) have much experience playing FLAC's via USB? I am considering buying this simply for the FLAC playing capability even though I rarely play DVD's or Blu-rays.

I do not particularly want to stream as my connection is not great and I don't want to leave my desktop computer on all the time. I'd like to load my FLAC library onto a portable hard drive and plug it into the rear USB port and use this primarily as a digital music player.

Is the playback reliable? Is it easy to control through the ipad iControlAV apps?

Having the same problem - Netflix just plain won't work I get to the "chose your experience screen" and it locks up, This player is a disappointment, it locks up all the time, first player I've ever had that is so prone to locking up.

Hi. The free cfw 4.03 is currently looking old. I've had newer bd-isos that couldn't be played with messages to upgrade fw. Any new cfw (free) out there, hmm?

what titles you could not play? did you rip movies to bd ISOs with AnyDVD HD? if YES - you should NOT have ANY problems with the right settings! Pity I can't check it as I am not on 4.03 myself now. However I am confident that if you use AnyDVD HD for ripping you should not have any probs. Just make sure you use the latest version to handle hmmmm let's say some restrictions on new BDs....

Thanks for the suggestion. Are you suggesting that I load the iso or bdmv using anydvd and somehow saved them to a new image? I hope there would be no encoding involved as I would like to retain the original quality.

I will try the original BD and will rip it to ISO with AnyDVDHD over the weekend. However I am on 5.10 but I am sure it should not be a big difference with 4.0X. If you only have problems with 1 BD ISO - try different ISO of this title. Also - can you playback the original BD?

I have had the exact same problem. When I clicked on " Netflix" the blu ray would lock up. After a firmware update, it started working perfectly. It worked fine for about 3 months. Now, I click on Netflix, and when I go to click on one of the 3 profiles I have, it locks up. Did the last firmware update recently released to no avail. I wish Pioneer would allow their service dealers to repair, but no, they want you to ship it to California at your expense. Not up to the standards of this company.

Shipping it anywhere isn't going to help. Pioneer is aware that Netflix has changed something that is causing lock ups. They are working to isolate the issue and hope to have a firmware update ready soon.

I was hoping someone could tell me why (and how to fix) my new Blu Ray player audio video not in sync with many

blu ray movies.  I can see that lips moving on screen does not match words spoken.  about half a second off.

I recently purchased a pioneer BDP-62FD to go with my Pioneer SC-61.

HDMI cables used from Blu Ray to Receiver to TV.

I am using VIZIO M651d-A2R 65-Inch 1080p 240Hz 3D Smart LED HDTV.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions or settings to check/change.

Matt

If the BDP-62FD doesn't get replaced by the BDP-82FD this year, I'll probibly wind up getting one and coupling it with the new VSX-80. I have many Blu-ray titles, but I also have a lot of stuff on SD DVD. My problem is that from what I understand, the BDP-62FD doesn't have a 480i setting. If I set it to 480p, the player will be deinterlacing. If I set the BDP-62FD to 1080i, the player will be upscaling. I'd rather send 480i so I'm getting as straight and pure a video signal as possible. Should I set it to 480p or 1080i? Or should I wait for Pioneer to release an Elite Blu-ray player with PQLS for audio and a 480i option for video? Now I wish I could still get a new BDP-52FD 2011 model!

Netflix works on my Apple TV but not on my BDP62FD. How long does it take to find a software glitch. Love my Pioneer receivers - but this blue ray player is a real disappointment.

Hello !

I have been following this thread for some time now as I own a BDP-150 device.

I have the following issue:

I tried two mkv movies recently and I observe the following phenomenon

The movie starts playing fine but after 40-50 seconds the video simply stopps. Playing the same video on a

different media player does not cause any problems. The video plays fine and does not stop until the end.

One video is an mkv rip of Behind The Candelabara with Michael Douglas and Matt Damon and the other

one is a Sky UK HD rip of the movie Solaris.

This is really annoying. I am using a NAS device by Dlink ( DNS-320L ).

The firmware version I am using is the following one according to the system information:

"BDP150 V01.02" So I assume it is the earliest version of the firmware available.

I bought the Blu Ray less than one year ago in Hong Kong. Luckily, it is already capable of playing all

region DVDs but not Blu Ray discs.

I really like the video quality a lot ! and this is why I am asking.

I am not using a custom firmware but the orignal firmware when I bought back last year in Hong Kong.

I really love the video playback quality of this device.

EDIT:

I have just tried the following:

I have copied the mkv file in question ( Behind The Candelabara ) to an USB stick from the NAS in question.

I then inserted the USB stick with the mkv file into the Pioneer Blu Ray player and voilà - the Blu Ray player

no longer stops at exactly the same spot ( approximately 50 seconds after the beginning of the movie ).

I tried to play the same mkv file at least 20 times from the same NAS and it always stopped at exactly the

same point.

This means that the mkv file itself is not broken. I have also upgraded my player to cwf Version 4.03 - to no avail Alas !

The file still stops at the same place.

I have embedded the D-Link NAS device ( 320L model number ) via DNLA. Both the Blu Ray Player ( Pioneer BDP 150 with

cwf 4.03 now ) and the NAS device are connected to the same router via two 100 mbit/s LAN port. ( my router is not

gbit capable )

Initially the Pioneer Elite would freeze when you first hit the Netflix button. Then you had to unplug power cord and restart and most times it would work. Then Pioneer issued and update to resolve a You Tube problem (2.09) and it also fixed the Netflix freeze up problem. Then, about a month ago (5/2014) Netflix did some software updates, and it affected this player. When you clicked on your profile on Netflix, the unit froze. I spoke with both Pioneer and Netflix this past week, and Netflix says they have finally resolved the problem, and should be working with Pioneer in the next 1-2 weeks to issue the software update. I could not verify from Netflix whether they would do the update or if Pioneer would issue a new firmware update. The latest Pioneer firmware is 2.13 and it did not fix the problem.

I have figured out why the Pioneer Blu Ray player would cause problems with playing mkv files from my DNLA server. It has nothing to do with the player, it is a server related issue !

Anyway,

can anyone please answer the following question:

What is the exact purpose of the "network search" function ? What is it looking for ?

I have a NFS server enabled on my NAS server. Shouldn't my custom firmware 5.10 ( April ) find it ?

The search function should find any NFS shares on your network.

However, it is quite buggy and won't always work. From some testing I did, if you have shares with very large numbers of files in them, it won't work. If you don't have UDP enabled on your NFS servers, it won't work. If you NFS share names have spaces in them, it probably won't work. If the NFS share names are too long, it probably won't work. If the NFS UDP packet size is too large (try not to use bigger than 8K, because of possible packet loss), it probably won't work.

Basically, you have to have many variables just so, for it to work. It can be tricky and frustrating. Good luck.

(I recommend you ONLY use Hanewin NFS server on your network - if you use anything else it probably won't work. Try to disable all other NFS servers first.)

I recently replaced my ever relaible Dune Base 3.0 (non 3D) with the Pioneer BDP450 with fw version 2.12 as I wanted to experience 3D at home.
I have been using a 4 bay Probox hdd dock ,HFD1-SU3S2, without any issues with the dune for the past 2 years.
The dock is connected to the rear USB port. I only switch on one bay of the dock at any one time.
I use a 2TB Samsung 3.5" hard disc.
However, with the Pioneer, I have been having audio drop-outs and hanging.
Also the player disconnects with the USB dock intermittently. This occurs with mkv and iso files.
What should I do next?

A L Wong, I would try using the front port USB. There is a chance that the rear USB connector is bad! If that still has issues, try a hard drive in a stand-alone external USB enclosure.

Well I think my Pionner will never find my NFS share :( I have around 9681 files on my NFS share now. I find the DNLA function quite useless. It is not very fast and

I tried playing Blu Ray BDMV folder but it won't work. It works fine however whenever I try to play BDMV folders from an USB stick. So therefore it is quite useless unfortunately.

I also had mkv files that work fine thru my USB stick but will not play via DNLA. This is not a player related issue, I have the same problem once I try to play the same file

via DNLA on my PC. However I do know how to fix by rebuilding the multimedia library but that takes too much time so using DNLA is not that great.

And I am sure the NAS server is using UDP and I cannot disable it. There is no option in the menu / firmware.

In that case there is no point of enabling a NFS server on my network if I have to keep my PC turned on in order to do so. But I will try the Hanewin thing just for fun to see whether

it works. I can also use PowerDVD on my PC to watch Blu Ray ISOs etc. on my projector via HDMI. The quality is fine, too.
