Is there a DVD/Blu "region-free" mod available for the unit?

do the 'multi-zone RCA audio outputs' work as analog outputs while the HDMI is plugged in?

Example... plug HDMI into the Denon Blu-Ray player and into a Panasonic TV.
Then plug the multi zone outputs of the Denon Blu-Ray player into a receiver that doesnt have HDMI inputs...?

Reason: I'd like to play CD, SACDs as well as have a HD tv hooked up.

The table on page 57 I find confusing. For any source it suggest it always puts a downmix on the RCA terminals. But it says it does so using 2-ch linear PCM. Still the header of that column says "analog output".
I have to assume that for any possible source it runs 2-ch linear PCM through its own dedicated DAC.
Not tested though. Not very helpful is it.

Yes. That's how my system is set up. The analog outputs are conected to my Marantz PM 8004 integrated amplifier. Any media I play in the 3313, including 5.1 sources, I can listen in stereo through the Marantz. HDMI outputs are conected to the tv and receiver. Works great. In the Denon German website is said that 3313 has a 32 bit high quality DAC. I would like to know if the US version has the same DAC.

Yes it's fine, though takes a fair bit of time to load for me usually. You get Dolby Digital + on some streams but not all. That is determined by Netflix. Picture quality can be stunning pace House of Cards.

Thanks for the reply.

I asked before:

I have read the manual and it refers to being able to play PAL disc's, but from what I understand PAL is a DVD designation, and that is not the same as different "regions" in Blu-Ray.

Do you know if this unit can play different Blu-Ray regions, or is there an after market "mod" available?

Thanks very much.

It can be modded for both bluray and dvd but I don't know how. Some sellers in the UK were offering to do it for you but I never bothered since it wasn't important to me.

Does the denon link feature of matching sound and video also work for streaming content? I can't recall nothing the mismatch on blu rays but I see it consistently on Netflix, etc

This is what I do and it's fabulous. I steam ripped SACDs that were converted to multi channel FLAC and they sound brilliant.

Has anybody upgraded from the Denon 2500BT to the Denon DBT 3313?
I'm very happy with my 2500BT and was wondering if an upgrade would be worth it
Faster loading time is not reason enough, and the network in the DBT 3313 is not wireless (Netflix)
What would the differences be?
Thanks
Jakob

If you are very happy with your current player and you are not into HD audio and/or can utilise HD link with a compatible amp I'd say skip. That from paper though meaning I have not compared the two.

I would be if Denon hadn't made the 3313's new Denon Link HD implementation incompatible w/Denon Link 4 AVRs. Been tempted to upgrade to an AVR-4520 or possibly try the new AVR-X4000 but have decided to stay with using the AVR-4311 for now with the older DBP-A100 DL 4 player...

I had the 4520CI and this player as a combo but sold the 4520CI and bought a AV8801 and went with a Sony SACD player with Analog so I no longer need this player

Did you get notification? I didn't despite notifications being on. I only became aware by reading a post on another forum.

Yes I did. I turned on the player to watch a concert and after ten seconds the notification was there, unfortunately.

Well I don't know what is happening with mine. Just another of the disappointing niggles with this troubled player. Lucky for me I dont have any SACD.

The regular SACD continues to be played normally. After firmware upgrade 3313 will not play just ripped SACD. By the way, this player plays 5.1 SACD nicely. Very detailed and smoothed sound. If you like music you should try it.

All my music is now streamed FLAC. One of the problems is that he navigation does not work properly. We discussed it above.

Can't imagine ill be going back to physical discs any time soon.

Hi Sutton8,

So after the firmware update ripped and burned SACD won't play. Then I'm not affected. Can you confirm one can continue to stream 6 channel FLACs? I have them sourced from both DVDR and SACD.

Yestarday I tested 6 channel FLAC and worked just fine. Files were played through dlna and USB external drive.

Issue I have with AVR-3313 is front USB port won't play multi-channel FLAC files. 2-channel only.

You're saying the DBT-3313 will play multi-channel FLAC files? Is that correct?

@lian,
Correct. Through DLNA I happily play 6ch FLACs. Thanks vernon1313 for confirming this continues to work after the upgrade. Lian I have no experience with USB as vernon1313 has.

Yes. I tested many files and all of them worked fine through USB and DLNA. These files are a result of Foobar convertion of 5.1 SACD iso file to 5.1 FLAC files.

Did the firmware update. I confirm multi channel flacs stream from dlna as well as from the front USB. Loving it.

I noticed better remote handling using my Harmony. While scrolling down it would regurarily skip multiple entries in a list while I meant to go just one up or down. Didn't have this issue scrolling files on the AVR using the same remote. After the DBT update I don't have to be as 'careful' scrolling.

As with the update before this one...no gapless streaming yet. Come on guys at Denon DBT...where's your pride? The AVR team did it the last time around!
