BDP-S7200 Dolby Tru-HD

Hi everyone,

Have just bought but not yet received a used sony 7200, and have read in some places that it only decodes Dolby TrueHD as two channel stereo bitstream over HDMI. Is this true?

Does it decode DTS-HD MA as multi-channel? Couldnt find a clear answer on this.

Apologies if this has been covered before.

Also, is Triluminos Colour the same thing as x.v.Color?

Regards.

No, the 7200 will "bitstream" or pass the full Dolby True HD and Atmos soundtracks and likewise DTS-HD MA and DTS-X surround soundtracks over HDMI to a compatible surround sound processor/receiver..etc. Just make certain you switch the BD audio mix Audio setup menu option to OFF.

If you are looking for the player to "decode" the Dolby True HD soundtracks to PCM... then Yes it is limited to 2 channel stereo. But, DTS soundtracks it can decode fully to 7.1 PCM.

And No, Triluminos color is not the same as x.v. color. I believe Triluminos is just a Sony TV or display marketing backlight feature for their LCD TVs.... provides improved color reproduction....

Ah, ok, thanks. So to be clear, if I connect the 7200 to my Denon amp via hdmi with a Dolby truhd bitstream, it will be multichannel not stereo?

Cheers.

bdp-s3200 screen saver ???

On my S3200 the screen saver takes 10 minutes to start. Is there a way to adjust, shorten this time?

Thanks, I found the full manual online but didn't find an answer. I usually just stop the movie and it goes to the Sony menu. A few times it didn't give the option to resume where I left off. Ten minutes just seems too long for SS to kick in. I'll just try to remember what scene/time I'm at.

So has anyone figured out a way to get Hulu back, or is this a done deal?

It's unclear to me as to whether this only affects HD players or if UHD players will also eventually lose the Hulu app. Either way, this was really a terrible way to handle this and I'm sure many consumers are extremely pissed with the way the whole thing went down. This is really bad customer support, and I blame it on Disney, not Sony (for once, at least).

Hope the new Hulu interface is better.
