Current Oppo 105 has 2 HDMI outputs, don't see why the new one wouldn't as well.

It seems like the Samsung UBD-K8500 only has 1 HDMI output.

However, the Panasonic DMR-UBZ1 UHD Blu-ray player released November 13th in Japan has 2 HDMI outputs. I suppose one of them is for audio.

$465 gets you are pretty decent receiver right now if you don't need Dolby ATMOS.

even if it doesnt have the dual HDMI outputs, wont the optical audio work in the same manner, even just temporarily?

I kinda want XT32 with dual sub EQ, so the Denon X4200 would be my choice I guess.

Yeah, but no way am I watching a UHD disc with reduced audio. I have it accepted in my mind that I may have to buy the 4200, and can probably sell the 4520ci for a decent price. Its not that old.

The ONKYO'S in the 500-600 range look to give everything you need: Atmos/hdcp 2.2/hdmi 2.0a/170w per channel

You guys are looking at low end receivers. None of these can compare to my NAD T775HD (Amazing for music as well as home theater). An equivalent receiver will cost at least $2000. I am not going to do that now since I bought this AVR only in 2011. I am going to wait a while anyway since 4K projectors are still way too expensive.

Me already having a stand alone amp, I just need something with XT32 and sub eq since I have duals. The 4200 is still around $1299, but hoping it will drop some.

How did a thread about the (potentially) first UHD BD player to be sold turn into a discussion of AVRs...and low-end one's at that?! There are hundreds of AVR threads in the "receiver" section. Hopefully there will be more info on this player at CES.

Yamaha RX-A2050 AVR [v1.81], LG 65EF9500 4K OLED [v4.25.70]
5.0.2 set-up: (4) Polk Monitor 10B's, (2) Polk Monitor 4's, Polk CS300 center
B&O TX2 Turntable, Nakamichi Cassette Deck 1
Pioneer CLD-99 LD, Panasonic DMP-UB900 UHD [v1.80]

It was like 10 posts over a couple of days, and started by an image of one with a single HDMI out. No need to be the thread police

You bring up an very valuable point. The entire discussion was brought on by the extremely disappointing fact that this samsung UHD player appears to only have 1 HDMI output. which could really screw alot of people, thus causing alot of buyers on AVS to skip this model altogether. So basically, blame samsung

I was hoping/planning to get a UHD Blu-Ray player and use it with my existing equipment (receiver and projector) at 1080p. Would this not be possible because of HDCP/DRM/HDMI version requirements or other such crap? There are several reasons I wanted to do this:
- Blu-rays are 4:2:0 and reds are blurry and ugly in many situations. UHD will be 4:2:0 also but when viewing at 1080p it will be like having 4:4:4 or 4:2:2 (not sure which)
- Higher quality/less compression in the scaled down to 1080p picture
- Future proofing disc purchases with the latest format

According to this article, it should be possible to use my old equipment. Hope it turns out to be the case: http://www.t3.com/news/uitra-hd-blu-...edia-explained

I'm expecting to do the same thing. Buy the uhd player asap ahead of a new 2016 model TV set. Uhd disc content down scaled to a 1080p tv should look improved over regular bluray I would think.

The photo at the beginning of the thread was a pre-production sample. The actual player does have two HDMI outs. It will be up on Crutchfield's website tomorrow and you can read all about it.

Wonder if we'll see any promotions with the 4k players like we did with the launch of Blu ray. Would be nice if a movie or two was included with the player.

Key is going to be do Sony, Panny and Samsung get the chips right where they handle simple video tests. Hopefully they applied what they learned in the first years of blu-rays and release something that is right from the get go.
