I will try one of my 4K discs soon. Having fun with concert upconvert at the moment. You know, this is my first 4K display, only two weeks old and now my first UHD spinner. Of course we buy these units for 4K content but I cannot believe how much enjoyment I am getting from upconverting my day to day content.

I am not sure I could go back now..

This is my little bedroom set-up. I can't wait to get my Sharp Elite replaced with another OLED and take a five inch hit, 70 to 65. It's a blast. I am having a hard time with the Elite now.
The ghosting around the white names of songs is not there. It's coming from camera.

Really bad phone pics of a concert but loving it. When I pause it blurs a bit. It is so much sharper than this. Need to get all the settings dialed in as well but hey it's only an hour old

edit: a few 4K. Faces look great.

Those Pics are epic and they represent exactly what I hope to achieve when I take delivery of my Panasonic (I currently have the Samsung K8500).

In your opinion, what are the most important setting that we need to use to get the most out of the player?

The JVC projector has great processing but do you prefer to let the Panasonic do the 4K upconversion and the HDR to SDR down conversion?

I am still not clear about what is the best resolution for 1080p content to feed to these pixel-shift projectors due to their unique processing.

Also, what color output are you achieving (4:4:4)?

Thank you and congratulations on an awesome setup!

I don't know if this has been reported, but panasonic has announced a cheaper ub700 player. Probably without analog outs.

Over in the JVC thread, we have been talking about the Panasonic/HD Fury combo. That is the best way to maximize your picture quality if you don't have a display that does a good job with HDR.

If you want to strip out the HDR, but keep the WCG, then you will need to use the Fury.

OK, I owe you guys big time. I looked up Value Electronics and they are 20 minutes from my home! Stopped in to their beautiful AV store and ended up with the DMP-UB900 and although unexpectedly, I just had to buy Sony's new 75" Z9D. It looked beautiful in the store showroom and the retailer is delivering and wall mounting it today!

Very knowledgeable retailer and nice to work with.

Congrats on your purchases. Robert is a great guy. Knew you would like him. Your closer than I am, but I've been to the store before. Love to know about the Sony even though I have an LG oled. Send me a PM when you get a chance. Enjoy your new "toys."

How come nobody has mentioned the firmware update that came out yesterday? I think it went from 1.19 to 1.22.
Anybody notice any differences (I don't...which isn't necessarily a bad thing).

5.0.2 set-up: (4) Polk Monitor 10B's, (2) Polk Monitor 4's, Polk CS300 center
B&O TX2 Turntable, Nakamichi Cassette Deck 1

Boy, I guess you need to remember to unload the disc you were watching the day before prior to turning unit off. Turned on this morning and had to wait for loading cycle for the disc left in from last night to load before I could hit eject. A bit time consuming and although a minor issue may cause unneeded cursing especially when you have not had morning coffee yet..

Just a minor quibble..

I wasn't sure if I would get dinged or not and thought since VE is a sponsor of this thread, I would be okay. Thanks for the reminder though. I appreciate it.

I don't think you need to explain. Like me, you ONLY gave a recommendation of an establishment based on your experience. You didn't post a price, nor did you post a link. I don't see what forum rules were broken. There have been no complaints when members have lauded other forum sponsors in many other threads.

VE is not a sponsor of AVS. No sponsors are allowed to advertise outside of the dealer forums.

No problem. Plenty of good information over there. I was struggling the other night to get my Panasonic set up and I was helped out there.

My bad, I just assumed they might have been. I will not mention anything that would be considered an infraction on here. Definitely don't want to break any rules and get banned. I'd be lost in the world of A/V if I did, but my wallet and wife would be happy.

The other member was asking about best price and where to buy, which as the mod pointed is not allowed by forum rules. Is it followed to the letter of the rule in each and every forum...probably not. The mods are volunteers and can't read very thread.

No one was scolding anyone, it just a reminder of the rules..since I know this forum is very well moderated.

Ron

PS. If you look at my posts, I never quoted coach, since I, like you didn't feel he was violating any rules.

All,

Sorry with perhaps a dumb question but when watching standard HD discs should I leave my (HDMI) resolution to Auto or set to 1080P? If I leave at Auto is the Panny performing the upconvert on my 1080P discs? If I switch to 1080P this in turn is sending to my OLED to upconvert is that correct? Just would like to try both for compare if I understand this correctly.

In fact these are my settings for HDMI:

Any adjustments needed? Just confirming these basic settings. Thanks in advance as I have been curious about 1080P since last night in set-up.

HDMI:
Resolution: Auto
4K60P Output: 4k/60p(4:4:4)
24p Output: Auto

Advanced:
Color Mode: Auto
Deep Color: Off
High Dynamic Range: Auto
Contents Type Flag: Auto

What is the purest picture preset to have it on for regular blurays? I have it on normal right now, but wonder if I should have it on cinema or fine cinema.

Any adjustments needed? Just confirming these basic settings. Thanks in advance as I have been curious about 1080P since last night in set-up.

HDMI:
Resolution: Auto
4K60P Output: 4k/60p(4:4:4)
24p Output: Auto

Advanced:
Color Mode: Auto
Deep Color: Off
High Dynamic Range: Auto
Contents Type Flag: Auto

Auto on player with convert 1080p to 4K. I also have an OLED tv and would like to know if you think the player converts 1080p blu ray to 4K better than the tv.
