Panasonic DMP-UB900 thread.

If this player is anything like my DMP-BDT700.....then it will be a winner!

The BDT700 is an OVER-AChiever! Excellent video performance AND excellent stereo!

Cant wait for the UB900.

(C'mon OPPO....was' happenin'?.......

gadgtfreek 01-08-2016 07:29 AM

Owned a BDT500 which I loved, so I am hoping the same. Subbing so I can keep up with a release on this model.

FYI on Oppo, I think they are waiting on the mid year MediaTek UHD chip.

I sure hope this Panny makes it before mid year...

Wonder why the Samsung UHD player is getting all the chatter and not this one. I like what I'm seeing here but I bet it'll go for more than $400USD.

Maison 01-14-2016 10:21 PM

Because it won't be available in the US or it may but much later and likely cost twice or more than twice the Samsung

kristoffer77 01-15-2016 04:04 AM

I bet price will be around a thousand dollars...

gadgtfreek 01-15-2016 05:46 AM

That's the thing. No release date, appears to be pricey, and they did not even bring the 700 here. I'll honestly believe it when I see it.

I do think it would be a great player though.

Lozin 01-15-2016 05:50 PM

Maybe by next years CES they will have a player ready for the North American market.

Certainly not a lot of info available on this player. No question that it will be more expensive based on some of the audiophile features. I believe I did see a picture of the back of this proposed player and it had 2-channel balanced analog outputs. Probably no big deal but since my current system utilizes balance connections thru-out and would be a plus for me. I don't mind waiting but I did want to see what 3D looks like since they didn't have 3D when I bought my last & still current blu ray player.

Panasonic DMP-UB900 thread.

Release is April in Denmark and a price of about 1,000 dollars...

oink 01-20-2016 01:18 PM

I would prefer the Panny to the Sammy, as I have had good luck with their players in the past.
However, anything over $400 is too much IMO.

If anyone can recall, the first Samsung BD player was pretty buggy and slow.

teachsac 01-20-2016 01:25 PM

Yep. Lasted a day and got traded out for a BD10 that is still running strong at my daughter's apartment.

arftech 01-20-2016 04:45 PM

I would rather get the Panny as well especially with the higher audio resolution features it offers but I can't see paying much more than 2 or 3 hundred more for it. I already have a pretty good source player for music that also plays m/c SACD and DVD-A and especially excels with 2/channel music so I really don't need the Panny. Still holding off on a 4k player even though I want to be able to watch 3D since my player is not 3D capable.

Panasonic Canada website shows this device as 'Coming Fall 2016'.

This makes me happy but sad at the same time. Waiting is hard...

Anyone see any evidence of a US release date?

I believe I will wind up waiting for this player even though I have a high end universal BD player (Denon A1UDCI). I am also getting a little impatient but I just plan to watch some of my favorite blu rays on my new Sony XBR 75X940C. With it's wonderful up scaling to near 4K they will look that much better. I am also anxious to watch 3D for the first time since my last TV and my Denon A1UDCI BD player is over 8 years old before Smart and 3D came along.

3D on the 940c is excellent...you won't be disappointed.;)

I'll probably get this one for the living room when it comes out and move the Samsung to the bedroom.

ereed 02-01-2016 03:32 PM

Glad to see Panasonic is still using 7 channel analog outputs which is perfect for my older non-hdmi preamp.
