I looked online and it says your 2300 if fully compatible.

"4K Ultra HD 60Hz video, 4:4:4 Pure Color sub-sampling, High Dynamic Range (HDR) and 21:9 video, 3D, and BT.2020 pass-through support on every input. "

So you should be good using one quality certified cable. If you have any issue get a Certified Premium HDMI cable from Monoprice, they will pass anything on today's market.

Hi thanks for the help and taking the time to check. I bought another 4k disc and tried that plus different blu rays and no problems with any. Tried hacksaw ridge again and when the disc is first inserted it makes the noise but then subsides so isn't as bad as the first time.
Might see about returning it to Amazon.👍

Does the Netflix app on this player work when video is output as 1080p to a display without HDCP 2.2?

On the Philips I just bought, the Netflix won't work at all, even though UHD Blu-ray will happily play at 1080p on such a display.

Would it be worth picking one of these up for $99 with no remote? Used, but in good condition. And any recommendations on a cheap remote?

I have the K8500 connected into a sony 790 soundbar with the hdmi set to enhanced. Under the K8500 sound settings i have digital output set to pcm, pcm downsampling off, dynamic range control off, and downmixing mode at normal stereo. Is his correct to get the best sound quality out of blurays on my soundbar?

I have the same setup in a bedroom. On the UBD-K8500, set DIGITAL OUTPUT to BITSTREAM UNPROCESSED, PCM DOWNSAMPLING to OFF, DYNAMIC RANGE CONTROL to OFF, and DOWNMIXING MODE to SURROUND COMPATIBLE. These settings will enable decoding of DTS, Dolby Digital, DTS-HD MA, Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus, etc. by the Sony HT-CT790.

I have the Samsung attached to the "grown ups" TV upstairs, but am really debating about what to do with the "kids" TV in the playroom (Sony 850D). I'm leaning Xbox S because most of what they watch is streaming and I think they'd like to have Minecraft on it as well. The hesitation is that so many posts here and in other threads on AVS complain about the Xbox as a 4k Bluray device, which I'd definitely want to use it for sometimes. Am I just overthinking this?

I also have a Denon 2300. Only one cable is needed for my K85C (Costco version of the K8500) to the Denon.

Looking for some Help and hoping someone can help me with the 4K handshaking problem I seem to be having between my ubd-k8500 and my 65ks8000 Samsungs. When I turn on the UHD color on the TV I get that bad message that seems all to common with the player:

The Content will be played in HD because the display or the HDMI input does not support HDCP 2.2...

I am under the impression that the ks8000 is HDCP compatible in all 4 inputs. I have tried several of the settings including turning off deep color and manually forcing the resolution and hdmi color to 4 4 4...I have the player directly connected to the one connect box and I tried several HDMI cables including a mono price certified for 18GBS...

Any one have a similar issue that they were able to fix....thanks!

You will have to provide far more information than you have if you expect anyone to suggest a fix. Such as, how do you have the two units connected, and whether or not the error message occurs with all UHD disc titles you have tried. In the interim, I would recommend that you reset the BDP to factory settings, turn it off, disconnect the HDMI cable(s), and leave the unit alone for at least 30 minutes. Then reconnect the HDMI cable(s), then turn on the TV followed by the AVR. Set the input on the TV where you have the BDP connected to HDMI UHD COLOR ON before you turn the player on. Finally, turn on the BDP and begin the setup process all over again. If you are able to see the startup screen from the BDP, you know your HDMI cable is up to the task of passing the signal. Set the player as follows for use with your Samsung TV:

On the UBD-K8500:

Settings > Picture > TV Aspect Ratio: 16:9 Original
BD Wise: OFF
Resolution: Auto
Movie Frame (24Fs): Auto
DVD 24Fs Conversion: Auto
Fit Screen Size: Size 4 ( Your choice ) (Only applies to screen mirroring and Smarthub)
HDMI Color Format: Auto
HDMI Deep Color: Off

Preference setting:
Standard Mode, or while a movie is playing hit the Tools button and select user picture mode and set everything to mid point (zeroes).

Definition of "Stupid": Knowing the truth, seeing the truth, but still believing the lies.

I just picked up a K8500 and compared it to my Xbox One S (on a 65KS8000), the K8500 is superior regarding image quality and it's obvious even though it may not be considered a night & day difference (much like the UB900 vs K8500).

With default settings, I couldn't see a difference between the K8500, UB900 and X800. The UB900 does have an HDR slider than makes it look better, though.

Nice to see someone still rocking the Boston speakers though. I've got 2x VR3, 2x VR2, 6x CR77, 2x CR67 and a VR12. I shopped for tower replacements for the VR2s a few years ago and couldn't find anything I liked better for less than $1500 per speaker. Sometime after that, I found (and immediately bought) a pair of VR3s.

No it won't he has a 2016 65ks8000 Samsung TV and Samsung dropped "BD Wise" for all their 2016 TVs onwards (if not before), so "BD Wise" won't be available.

(Samsung seems to to be doing their best to quietly airbrush "BD Wise" out of history!)

Anyone having problems with Deadpool 4K? I've gone through three discs. Two from Frys and one from BBuy. I even tried a second 8500 at Frys and it wouldn't play Dpool.

This is pissing me off. It just keeps spitting the disc out with the "specification" error.

I guess I'll head back to BB and try another. They must have flooded the market with a batch of some bad discs. Either that or this production batch doesn't like Sammy players.

+1 (my K8500 was recently purchased from Fry's and my copy of Deadpool is from when it first released).

This is pissing me off. It just keeps spitting the disc out with the "specification" error.
Had Deadpool 4K for quite some time. Have watched it three times with the problem.

The player isn't that big. This sounds extreme but it might be easier to take the player there, if they'll let you test discs? Do other discs work ok for you?

Well I wasn't leaving BBuy until I found a working copy. Fortunately disc #4 played. Bad Fox.... fix your QA/QC!
