As far as judder goes, it is sometimes more dependant on the display. The way I have my OLED setup, 60hz Neflix (Xbox) and 24hz Netflix (Bolt) don't stand out.

What matters to me is

A) HDR netflix
B) Reliability

My bolt still likes to hang moving around in Netflix at times and gives me a black screen. It acts up in all kinds of ways trying to use Amazon, and even the Samsung 8500 UHD player would sometimes hang moving backward in Netflix.

All of these models need work in the 2160p app departmant, but what the Xbox does is not act up while I am trying to fire up a Netflix original, or move around in that menu, with the wife tapping her foot. Maybe it will get better, but for now the Xbox will be my go to for bluray and Netflix, and the Bolt will be the backup for Netflix. The Amazon app kinda sucks in everything (except the 8500 maybe a fire and I aint buying one) so maybe they will get it sorted.

That is interesting, the update then most of either broke it or it was intentional because it was working fine before. I used it to rematch Avatar and TFA Thursday and it was upscaling both without issue, and I tested the feature on my Honeymooners BD Tuesday. Hopefully they fix it I guess.

I just tried a 2K BD and am seeing the same thing. My XBOne S is outputting 1080P24 instead of 2160P24 like it was earlier this week.

I was wondering about this as well. I put in Star Wars dvd last night and display said 1080p. It also had horrible lip sync issues that was somewhat corrected by restarting both the tv and the Xbox. Any lip sync issues with your DVDs?

To anyone experience the issue where the One S doesn't upscale BD, do you notice a difference? Really I'm just curious as to whether your TV or the Xbox does a better job at upscaling or if it's even noticeable.

I hadn't tried a standard Blu-ray before the issue was brought to my attention. I'm sure the difference is minimal if anything at all.

Really curious about the small handful of Xbox One S titles that will support HDR. Will that mean added processing for your TV and thus added input lag? Is HDR even possible in game mode?

Yes, it adds input lag, usually around 25+ MS from early testing.

Hopefully tv manufacturers can add HDR game modes that will limit the input lag.

My concern isn't the upscaling difference. It's the resolution difference. if it's outputting 1080P for the movie, when you go to the main screen, it has to switch to 2160P. It continues to play in a box on the the main screen, but before you could quickly go back and forth without issues since the resolution stayed at 2160P. But now the resoltion has to switch back and forth. And anytime you have a resolution change it will cause a delay since the TV has to resync.

I had lip sync issues but when I turned game mode off on the TV it corrected. I am also seeing the Xbox one S not up-converting the blu-rays to 4K as well.

A little disappointed I can't passthrough 4k through xbox s with the bolt. Right now not a big deal but if cable companies start going to 4k channels it is going to be a much bigger issue.

Do you think it can and or will be fixed?

It's a big deal for DirecTV customers. They have 3 4K channels they can watch. Microsoft needs to make this happen.

Thumbs down Xb1S and Non-HDR Sony 4K

So I got all excited about the thought of having a 4K blu-ray player to use with my 4K TV (Sony XBR-65X900B) then I find out that it doesn't support HDR... I got the XB1S anyway because they state you can still play 4K UHD content, stream, and game upscale just not in HDR (due to my TV's limitations). I put it my first 4K UHD "The Revenant" and I couldn't really tell a big difference between the 1080P and the 2160P, scanned the same scenes a bunch of times. It's not a side by side comparison but I thought I would notice more.

My XB1S settings stated it displayed 4K UHD 60hz but then under that where it shows "Watching movies and TV", all of the settings are X'd out. I don't remember them all but many about 10 bit etc. the HDR section under that was obviously X'd out as well. I believe the HDMI ports on my TV (1&2) are HDMI 2.0 compliant and I am using the included 2.0 cable the Xb1S brought.

Is there anything else I'm missing or is this as good as it gets without the HDR? I got this TV in late 2014 I believe.

I just realized that my Sony set must have some kind of a sub-set for HDR. If I start off with Game mode then I do not have most of the Motion flow settings when in HDR mode. But if I do start off in Cinema Pro mode, then the normal options appear in HDR mode. Not sure if this will make a difference on you set though.

Is there a setting for "enhanced" picture or similar? My 2015 xbr 43-830C recommends enabling that for uhd material & connections.

Honestly 4K without HDR is going to be very hard to tell a difference. It is just a resolution bump, which isn't that important. I don't think those early 4k sets support a WCG either....some sets take HDR to engage the WCG

I'm not certain on that particular panel, but I know the previous year 900A was only an 8-bit panel.

Ive found the 2160p streaming tiers to be very nice, but I think that is benefiting from the bitrate increase. HDR is def the big gane changed when it comes to watching UHD content.

How are you guys checking to see what resolution your blu rays are playing at? Is there something with the Xbox controller or just pushing the display button on the TV remote?

If you push down on the right stick with a movie playing, you get a banner at the top showing you details. I also checked in my Marantz menu as well.

Nope. Unfortunately I do not see any settings for enhanced. I looked in all settings, even under "Pro setup" which only allowed me to adjust the dynamic range for my HDMI from auto to full.

You have the C models, is it equipped with HDR or only D models?

So your saying without HDR I won't benefit from a UHD player over a standard 1080P movie with a normal 1080p player and a non-HDR 4K tv.

I'm kind of tired of Sony, similar situation happened to me a while back with another set, paid decent money for this tv to be obsolete now. There is no TV trading in place any knows of is there?
