yes. Unless something changed last night. I never saw any 4k/HDR capability from Amazon over the last nine days with my XBOne S.

Netflix app has HDR now, but it is wonky. Amazon does not. It needs some app updates IMO. The one UHD disc I tested triggered HDR fine, and the PQ has been good so far.

I think the app versions were not ready to go for launch...

Agreed. If it's not fixed by then I'm going to cancel my pre-order and just get a Roku 4 until Amazon gets their s*** together.

If you have a TV that does HDR then the ROku4 will be a poor substitute. Since the ROku 4 does 4K but not HDR from it's apps.

Put in a 1080p blu, it was still 1080p/24 RGB 8 bits.

Someone in the other Xbone S thread reported hitching they had on UHD discs was now gone.

4K upscaling
In addition to supporting 4K video content when used in conjunction with a 4K TV, Xbox One S will also upscale non-4K content to display at 4K when paired with a 4K TV. When you set your console resolution to 4K UHD, everything on the console — Home, games, and apps—will display at 4K. 4K content is displayed in its native 4K resolution, and other content (like 1080p content) is upscaled to 4K.

To set your resolution and upscale everything to 4K, double-tap the Xbox button to open the guide, go to Settings > All settings, then choose Display & sound > Video output. For TV resolution, select 4K UHD.

Yeah, a little bit sorry. I suppose my tolerance for hyperbole goes down to about zero during election years and I do get irked by a setup that amounts to "here is my opinion and if you disagree you're a parrot".

Kinect has been terrible for me. I have to repeat myself constantly, sometimes to a ridiculous level. And while my diction isn't quite Shakespearean, I'm no mush mouth either. "Xbox turn on. Xbox turn on. Xbox TURN ON. XBOX TURN ON. XBOX TURN ON! ¡¡¡XBOX TURN ON!!!" [Gets up and grabs the remote] Maybe mine is defective, but once in a while it works on the first try just to keep me confused.

I'd argue that offering the Xbox One without Kinect after 6 months was a d*** move to early adopters. Either give us the option on day one or stick to your guns and prove its worth. They did neither. But I'm giving them a bit of a pass only because of the very positive change in management. I'll be getting my Xbox One S on the 23rd and when Scorpio ships, I will buy it gladly knowing that all of the stink of Don Mattrick is finally gone entirely.

Can anyone recommend an actual working HDMI cable for [email protected] at 30 or 35 feet? Half the ones on Amazon that say they can do this are full of ****...I know that at 25 feet or so you're starting to push it? I've used 35 foot cables in my theater room for years (for 1080p) with no issue. They just don't work with the One S. Not enough bandwidth/speed. A ton of these cables with claims of 18Gpbs and so on are just flat out lying...The reviews for Monoprice (they have 2 on Amazon they claim are HDMI2.0, 4K, 18Gbps, and so on) 30-50 feet cables for example are bad...Monoprice even says they can do it when asked in the Q&A section. Total BS. The cable that comes with the One S works fine, but it's around 10ft...

Thanks in advance.

No hard feelings on my end

Mine takes a few trys sometimes, but is usually pretty responsive. Cortana seems to have made it even more accurate for me.

I think people who pre-ordered it (like me) knew full well what we were getting, I was pretty much smitten with mine until I got a 4k TV and then right after that they announced the S, winning (but only if they work out the bugs).

Scorpio seems cool, but it's basically just going to be a cross between an Xbox and a mid-grade non-upgradeable (assumably) mid-range PC. So I'll just stick with having an Xbox One S for media and my PC for games, which I honestly think is what Microsoft is hoping for...

I will have to test it tonight, but if the Judder is fixed that is awesome.

Wouldn't your TV just up convert the 1080P signal anyways?

The tv would scale it sure, but I generally like it all happening at the source.

I mean the Xbone S puts out 1080p Amazon at 4k/60, no reason it can't send out blu-ray at 24p. Something is broken in the app I think.

Are any of you connecting the XB1S through your cable provider/satellite? is there any PQ loss?

I am only using the HDMI 2.0 cable (Xb1s to 4K TV) that came with the XB1S and the existing audio quest HDMI I had which was 1.4 (directv to xb1s) My current TV does not have HDR.

from what I have read, most are saying the xbox actually scales better than their TV.

So how does the xbox one s handle non-HDR tvs? I remember reading people had to adjust their backlight/brightness to account for not having HDR with the Samsung player (otherwise the images were very dark). Does the xbox have a setting for non-HDR tvs to help with this?

TV - Vizio M60-C3
Receiver - Denon AVR-S710W
Speakers - Monoprice 10565
Blu-ray - Xbox One S

If anyone is having any problems you can call support or tweet @xboxsupport (I prefer tweetting them). You can reference this thread or this one if need be.

via twitter DM yesterday: * We're going to see if we can dig up any more info about this on our end. If you know of other friends that are seeing this, please let them know they're welcome to DM/Tweet us that info so we can look into this more. The more affected users we have, the more info we'll have to really figure this out. Please let us know if you see changes on your end in the mean time*

Both Lucy and Oblivion Universal UHD BD titles currently don't work with the XBOne S.

Hopefully MS has an update to fix the issue soon.

The more people that tweet or call support the faster it'll get fixed hopefully. I also let them know that they're both Universal Studios discs.
