Just in case anyone is unaware you can save your player settings to a USB drive then reload them after a reset.

You should follow the FW instructions - and always reset to factory defaults after FW upgrade. Keeping Settings is easy with a USB stick - Save them before upgrading FW - then restore them.

Alternatively - use the 203 Settings Checklist from Bills excellent website.

Watched yesterday `Aquaman` in DV, on my LG B7 OLED, through an Marantz AVR (with DV bypass); but it seems the movie was processed with annoying elevated blacks.
Anyway, i changed DV options in Oppo, cycling between Auto, TV-led and Player-led - TV-led looked a bit better, but probably it's just my perception.
What could be the best choice in this case, for DV settings? I read some articles that say that Player-led mode is for Sony TV's; but using this mode will have any effect on LG?

For displays that accept both profiles, we hope the results are identical. If not then Dolby is having a format war with itself. Which would be excessive even for them.

mmm... but changing dv processing mode will require player restart, or restarting movie is enough? other commenters said that `player-led`, well, led to greenish erroneous color errors.

Just watched MI2 in dv without a hitch. (Except the dubious pained expressions)
That was after downloading the latest official fw tonight and going through the usual backup, upgrade, reset, restore rigamarole.

Never tested it but my players are connected to displays that require player-led and never had any issues with it left on "Auto".

The LG OLEDs have different picture settings not only on the different HDMI-Inputs but depending on the source being fed into them.
So I would recommend you run a DV-Source and then look at the picture settings of the LG for DV and adjust accordingly.
What the Marantz in between might garble I have no idea (I run the 203 directly against my LG C6) but there might be another nuisance there.......

After a few months of trying to get my OPPO player to recognize the FW update on my thumb drive, I got an auto update signal from the unit itself... updated no problems.

Did latest update yesterday and after reset and restart it is all good. As I have a Sony DV TV, I use Player-led.

Tried using forced DV for the first time and the Bluray (1080p) version of Fantastic Beasts looked incredible. Will keep it on for now.

So I know they graded the color differently while in The Matrix but I missed your joke. I'm slow.

Side note: the fact that I can play my backup of the movie with Dolby Vision and lossless audio over the network to my Oppos is phenomenal.

Just feeling conflicted because now I don't have a reason to open the lovely steelbooks.

Yes I am that lazy..no actually I plan to keep it behind the TV and don't want to reach behind it to turn it on\off if I don't need to, or is there even a reason to turn off the external drives?

Those that have one (or more - I might attach another back there in the future) do you just leave it on all the time?

Thanks!
You might want to just stream from your PC - that way you can modify, organize, add metadata and easily add new media. Just something to think about - not sure what would be best for you but I prefer streaming.

Yes, that was definitely the plan, just to stream it all. I already have everything on my PC anyway. Unfortunately my Win 10 PC and the 203 are not playing nice w\each other. I tried a few different ways to stream including NFS (it never did find my SMB shares), my Dune Solo had no issue with NFS but never found the SMB as well. I tried for a few weeks pulling my hair out, in the end transferring it all to an external and just updating the external seemed like the best\only shot.

From reading around it looks like I'm not the only one with issues on a Win 10 PC sharing to the Oppo using SMB\NFS, the only advice I got was to use a Mac.

If you look at my previous post I spell it out the batch files you'll need to make it work - provided they are both on the same network subnet e.g. 10.10.10.x or 192.168.100.x.

I store my files on my G: drive so you'll have to adjust folder and drive letters

This is the contents of my exports.txt file (it lists where I put my media files
G:\Complete
G:\Movies
G:\TVCurrent
G:\TVPast
G:\Music

This is my startup batch (you can run it manually initially to make sure it works - once it does you might want to run it from task scheduler on startup)
"G:\Install\install\Winfsd oppo share\winnfsd.exe" -id 0 0 -log off -pathFile "G:\Install\install\Winfsd oppo share\exports.txt"

On the oppo you go to the network location and you may have to click on the magnifying search icon and wait about 10-15 seconds for it to show the shared server, then go down to video and select the folder with your mkv files.

I learned this from reading this thread from people who had gone before me and WOW - it changed everything for me. There are some very helpful programs that make mkv files and I love filebot for organizing my movies with more data since the oppo doesn't give much info I found it does a great job of providing info I want so instead of Just saying Johnwick2.mkv it relabels them for you to a format that gives some helpful data - John Wick Chapter 2 - 2017 (2160p, TrueHD-TrueHD+Atmos.TrueHD 7.1, R, 122 minutes).mkv

Sorry if this is the wrong thread to ask this question. I’m new to all this home theatre and oppo 203. Is there a link or how to setup thread that shows how to setup a computer to stream to my oppo 203. Which also shows how to copy a 4k disk onto a hard drive. Also if it helps I still haven’t picked up a computer so if there are any specs I need to get let me know. Thanks.
