Just-so-you-know... The original audio recording for that particular movie was in 'mono'.

That being said, if you're sure your AVR settings are correct, perhaps whoever encoded the DTS audio stream and authored the disc for release cocked-up.

Is there a setting I need to tinker with to get 2.0 to play properly? Full surround discs and mono discs play perfectly. This is the first time I noticed something off. I'm very much a novice when it comes to home theater setup and I'd appreciate any tips or solutions. Thanks!
Not really a player issue if your AVR reports it is receiving the DTS bitstream. You may have revealed an issue in your AVR setup. Check to see what type DSP is being applied to that input in the AVR, and try using a different one. Suggest: mono or stereo.

Have not used my Oppo in a few months but it has the latest firmware. Was playing avenger end game and the player seemed to have problems in the beginning of the disc chapter one. Kept freezing up. Had to skip to chapter 2 then worked ok. Anyone else have an issue with this 4K disc

First few minutes and the closing credits just froze. Had to keep pressing play but would just stop later and become pixilated

I watched Endgame about a month ago with no issues. Try cleaning the disc even if it looks clean.

(Cross-posted to the C7 thread as well.)

I was watching the recent Shadow UHD tonight and I noticed distracting brightness issues just like the ones mentioned in another forum's review: "Despite how 'perfect' the image is, there were some minor anomalies experienced on playback which are currently assumed to be TV/player related. They involve vast shifts in brightness which are comparable to the TV's automatic shift to 'standby' mode, whereby different content 'wakes' the TV back up to delivering the image as intended." This happened about 5-10 times in the film, always when cutting from one of the many dark scenes to one with a flat, bright expanse. I'm guessing this is either ABL or ASBL related, and I note that reviewer was testing on a B7, but I've never seen anything like it on any of the 30+ UHD's I've watched on my C7. The ABL/ASBL stuff I remember reading was more about PC and gaming use, not movies. Another review of the disc mentioned it had unusual metadata indicating mastering to 9000 nits. Is there anything I might tweak either on the C7 or my Oppo 203 that might address these problems?

That's a dirty or defective disc. If a good polishing doesn't fix it, return it for replacement.

I have had a couple finicky discs from Disney and an exchange has always fixed the problem. The facility they use to press their discs may have a margin of error.

Just in general 4K BDs are sensitive to imperfections due to their density.

Has anyone noticed that the apps for the 203/205 and the Sonica Speaker are no longer available in the Google Play Store? I picked up a new phone and wanted to install them but alas gone. Fortunately there is an app out there called Share It where you can share those files to another device.

Interesting because I would have sworn yesterday that APK file was not there and only the Android Link. I shot them an e-mail about it so I wonder if they just added them.

Yep, I downloaded it to a kindle fire a couple of days ago. Although, I'm not sure it will work. I need to check it out. I had a 93/95 media app on a kindle fire with OS 5.x.x It worked fine. My new fire runs Fire OS 6 which is based on android 7.1 nougat and the 93/95 app doesn't run. Apparently there is no attempt with android to make apps backward compatible. There are some new features in coding app developers have to take into account with android 7.1/fire 6 that I found on an amazon web site. It may be none of these apps will work with newer versions of android or fire and I'm sure Oppo won't be updating them.

For now I use my iPhone for the 203, but for the 95, I use my old fire tablet with OS 5.x. It has a cracked screen, but the app still works.

Edit: The 203/205 app works with newer versions of android 7.1/Fire os 6. The 93/95 no joy. Plan to pick up a refurb previous generation kindle 7 that runs on os 5.x for use with the 95 which is mostly just used for music via headphones now.

I've just searched the Android app store for the OPPO UDP-203/205 app and it would indeed appear to be no longer available. Which is a bit odd because the apps for the BDP-9x and BDP-103/105 are still available!

Can someone point me to instructions on cleaning a UDP disk? My copy of Captain Marvel has two places where it freezes up, one about half an hour in and one near the end. I can get past the first one with the scan buttons, but not the second one.

It's a brand-new disk, the only fingerprints being on the very outer edge.

Hold Disc by the edges or by placing your finger through the center hole. Wipe the disc with a cloth that has been dampened with alcohol, white vinegar, or screen cleaner. Start at the center and wipe straight out to the edge of the disc to avoid damaging the disc.

Thanks! I'll try the vinegar method first, and if that doesn't fix it, I'll try the hot soak and dish liquid.

Back when I was a jazz dj in college (1969-72) I used to wash noisy LPs in the sink with warm water and dish liquid, using my fingertips to rub along the grooves to get out embedded stuff - but there was always the risk of damaging the paper label in the center of the disk by getting it wet.

Once optical media like CDs came out, I learned that it was a bad idea to clean circularly, as that could leave traces that confuse the player's laser about where the track is.

I just used the Amazon App store to put it on my Samsung Galaxy 10e phone running Android 9. (You may have to go into your Android's setup to enable installing software from places other than the Google Play Store.)

It starts up fine, but since I'm not at home, I can't confirm right now whether it sees and controls my 203.

I hope it functions as a simple remote control - I'm not really interested in the Media Control function, since I use my Oppo as a DLNA Renderer, with play controlled via BubbleUPnP Server and Android BubbleUPnP, with the media files served from Twonky. This gives me keyword searching through my library and the ability to see album graphics on my phone while browsing my library.

This also lets me choose, on the fly whether to use the Oppo as the renderer, to get surround play of surround FLACs, or to use my Yamaha RX-A3070 AVR as the renderer, to get gapless play of stereo material. (It also lets me play media from my library over the internet through my phone or laptop when I'm away from home.)

My Oppo 203 was performing well but suddenly it would no longer detect the blu ray disc (or DVD). I did upgrade to the very latest firmware, emptied the memory, did a factory reset. I did use a can of compressed air to blow on the inside through the tray in case there was some contamination but still it does not load didc it use to load without any issue. Any thoughts?
Thank you
