Anyone running the latest official firmware and can say if Dolby Vision works when network streaming the original m2ts?

I'm still on Official 51-0922 because Cinavia doesn't kick in with network streams. But I can't play m2ts's that shipped with DV in DV. I know recent firmware had some DV fixes.

Just installed my 203. Haven't even powered her on yet. Does it ship with Dolby Vision installed or is it thru an update? If it's that latter I'll wait until I'm more motivated. Still sore from contorting my arse behind my cabinet and installing all this gear. It wasn't a pretty sight. Getting old isn't for the timid.

Dolby Vision has been out a while. I'd expect your Oppo has that update, but there was another in December which you might not have. Shouldn't be a problem though, mine checked for an update as soon as it was powered and (once I said it was OK) downloaded and installed it in a few short mins.

I haven’t followed these developments, but in the first few years of the PS4, its Bluray playback was not as good as the PS3. Many discussions here at the time.

In the early days it didn’t even do 3D Blurays. There have been many, many FW updates to the PS4, I’m sure it has improved a lot. But I thought it was a point worth making. I kept my PS3 as BR played and didn’t retire it until. I got the Oppo.

Hi guys, has anyone got CEC to work properly between their Oppo & AVR?

I switched CEC to power off attached devices on my AVR, but nothing happens to the Oppo when I switch off the AVR - any ideas?

thanks

With the Vizio I did not have this problem. I prefer to run everything through the AVR in lieu of dual HDMI.
I went from a Vizio to an LG OLED and had the same issue. It really bugged me and I continually adjusted tv, Oppo 203 and Denon AVR 920 to try to fix it.

Finally, I read somewhere an approach that ended up fixing all of it, cable box, ATV 4, Oppo, Amazon Fire tv.

I set all devices that were could be set to auto or neutral (factory settings). The Denon I turned synch off.

TA-DA! Have never had to touch synch issues again.

That’s how I initially had it, but the Oppo is still lightly off. This is running it through the AVR. I need about a 100ms delay.

There were several responses to this but nobody even mentioned that PS4 *doesn’t even play 4K discs AT ALL*.
I’d say if you are comparing the two... yeah there’s a pretty night and day difference there.

Not sure if there is "too much" grain on Dark Knight, but I do know Christoper Nolan shoots exclusively on film rather than digitally. So might that account for the presence of "real" film grain?

Along those same lines - If I power on my Oppo, it will power on my Sony TV and Denon Receiver. But powering Off my Oppo wont reverse power Off the other two components. Probably needs to be a feature request.

My 203 must have been sitting on a shelf for awhile. It's out of box FW was 46-0622. Which is from June 26th. It's all updated and current now.

Interesting, last night I slipped a standard def DVD concert disc into the 203 and the delay settings I've had to use of late were way off. I adjusted them to 0 on both the 203 and 8802a. After watching that disc, I went back to a bluray concert disc and the video to audio was again way out of sync. On my setup, I have the 203 set at maximum -200ms and on the 8802a I have it also set to -200ms making for a grand total of -400ms. At least when the drummer hits the snare drum, the audio matches.

BTW, I'm running two HDMI cables out of the 203, one to the display and the other to the Marantz.

Is your display in game mode? If so, the non-game modes tend to add video latency which can be a good thing when it comes to dialing in AV sync.

No, I have a Vizio P75 C-1 display and have it set to Calibrated Dark. Gll is not engaged. It wasn't always out of sync......seems a FW update late last summer on one of the three items in my chain is when it started. We were on an extended vacation and when I returned all three devices had FW updates to install. Not sure which one or a combination of devices was responsible but at least I have a way to deal with it. Being a drummer, I can't tell you how frustrating it is to see the audio visual sync out of whack when the drummer hits the skins.

Absolutely. Until I got my current projector I could never sync the audio on the Hell Freezes Over DVD, as the audio was already late. Makes a world of difference to get it right.

None of the points you posted above made much of a difference for me...other than DV
(I have Tested both with Two popular High End 4K/UHD/HDR capable displays)

I still have both players and will continue to use both, no limitations is my motto.
Same reason I chose to have a Great TV and a Very good Projector, an XBO and a PS4,
In the last format war 12 years ago, I also chose to have a BD player and an HD DVD player ...that still gets used.

I'm not picking sides so you don't have to get defensive,
just saying your 1000x better claim (including picture quality) seems like a gross exaggeration.
I love that word facetious. Thanks. Most people in forums these days that being facetious could get a person tied to the whipping post. Lot's of real sensitive souls in America and the greater globe these days. Facetious. There, I said it again. I would marry my Oppo 203. No, I was just being facetious.

Your synch issues are all happening in the display. If setting it to GLL mode doesn't make you happy, start by eliminating the "reduce blur" and "reduce judder" settings. I leave GLL on in my Vizio and have yet to see any reason not to. Especially with DolbyVision content.

I have my 2nd 203 on the way. I didn't see any posts quite like mine. Randomly locks up entire unit. The picture just freezes. New discs. Old discs. Cleaned various ways discs. Completely random locking. I had to power it down. Had Oppo walk me through all the fixes and settings. Various hdmi cables. Direct to my Elite plasma. Etc... Really didnt want to send it back but was at a dead end. Oppo and Solutions A/V are the elite of customer service.

That disc is mainly designed for folks with a meter and software for calibration. The casual HT consumer isn't going to get much out of it.

Thanks! They used to sell discs that even the standard consumer without any test gear etc. could use to get a better calibrated system, guess this is not that then.

And LG's factory default settings are, umm, not great for these Picture Modes. For example, they have TruMotion cranked all the way pt CLEAR, which would be soap opera city.

Again, to view or change these settings in the LG you must actually be playing Dolby Vision content into the Input in question. So check what you are using in the LG during Dolby Vision playback.

As for the front panel light, it wouldn't surprise me at all to discover Dolby instructed OPPO not to light that light during Dolby Vision playback since it reads "HDR" instead of "Dolby Vision". But I could be wrong about that.

Tell OPPO Tech Support about it -- you can use the Email Us link on OPPO's Support page for the player -- and it will get checked out.

The best way to determine that Dolby Vision content is being played, and also actually being output as Dolby Vision is to view the Extended Info display in the OPPO. While playing the Dolby Vision content, press and hold the Info button on the remote for a few seconds until that Extended Info display appears on screen. Use UP/DOWN Arrow to scroll through it. The first section describes the content being played. The next section describes what's going out on the HDMI cable(s).

Press Info button again to dismiss that display.

Thank you very much. I hadn't know about the dedicated DV picture mode. I turned off all the edge enhancement and motion smoothing features, and that eliminated the soap opera effect that I was seeing with DV content.

Add me to the list of people with A/V sync issues.
I only notice it when using the HDMI Input.
I got a PS4 PRO in to the HDMI IN of the OPPO, the OPPO Audio Only OUT to my AVR and the Main OPPO Out to the TV [Vizio M50-E1].
I honestly can't tell if it's a delay or it's early anymore; I've been fiddling with it for about an an hour.
I thought the HDMI Input's delay problem was fixed already?

Mine's the complete opposite - if I power ON the TV, or the AVR, or the Oppo, nothing else comes on.

But if I power OFF the TV, then everything goes off.

AVR: Cambridge Audio CXR200
Speakers: PSB Imagine T2 towers (bi-amped), PSB Image C5 centre, Monitor Audio Bronze FX surrounds (bipole), SVS PB-1000 sub

Problems like this is why I use universal remotes and eschew the use of ARC (and thereby, CEC).

1) JVC DLA-NX7 & Sony 65Z9D, Yamaha CX-A5200, Outlaw Audio 7900 & 7700, UDP-203, DP-UB9000, UBP-X800M2, Roku Ultra
2) Sony 75Z9D, Yamaha RX-A3080, 2xOutlaw Audio 2200s, UDP-203, UBP-X800M2, Roku Ultra

Actually, I have the Harmony One but my wife turns on the TV/Netflix/Receiver and or App switching from the Sony Remote with one button and or do a voice search and turns it all Off from the same power button. Can be just as easy if you don't have a complicated system.

Sony 75Z9D, Denon 4300H, Sony 65Z9D, Denon X4311, OPPO UDP-203, ATV4K, X1X Scorpio

Not a Harmony user but I believe Harmony cautions against using factory remotes if you use Activities with their remotes. Use URC MX-980's myself and have discrete On and Off codes for most of my devices.
