Have experienced the SAME issues w/“Dunkirk”.

I found and purchased a 203 today!

Question for the group. Is there any issue with me coming out of my Marantz SR-6011 into the 203 and then from there to the LG B7A in order to allow the Oppo to do all the 4K upscaling and tone mapping for all of my non-4K sources?

FWIW, my copy of Dunkirk UHD played through flawlessly on my 203 last week when I watched it.

If you mean the elevated black levels then there are reports that the x700 fixes that with the lg oleds. So maybe the new update from oppo will address that too ?

From what I have read LG 2016s need an update. DV elevated black level issue cannot be fully solved without LG TV fw update. LG have "promised" to release the fix but when is unknown.

Yes I’ve read that too. But I’ve also read that the dv update on the x700 also seemed to rectify the raised blacks when on the lg 2016 sets too. Early days. We will know very soon.

Maybe the Forbes articles source was actually Bob from here. Maybe they managed to decode Bobs secret encoded message haha

You should see separate flags in the upper corners of your screen when starting to play something with HDR10 or DV content. The LG flag is in the top right corner and the Oppo flag in the top left and they both should say "HDR" for HDR10 and "DV" for DV.

You can also check what the Oppo is outputting by bringing up the extended info display (long press on the remote's Info button" and for the E6 by pressing the info button and then clicking on the button for the picture settings.

Hopefully the OPPO version is smart enough to know when it is playing DV material and doesn’t have to be toggled on and off like Sony’s implementation.

Hi Guys, I'm new here so take it easy on me, so I'm in the market for a 4k player that can play pretty much all the disc types out there and also a media player that can play files like MKV's off a flash/hard drive from the USB, I've done a bit of research and the Oppo 203 seems like the best one to go for, can any of you 203 owners tell me if it possible to play those sort of files on it, many thanks

It does that, but understand there is a lot of variability in media files. You'd have to be specific as what you are using.

Standard rips with MakeMKV or AnyDVD, optionally processed with Handbrake: no problem.

Hi guys I’m a novice here. I have questions about 2 particular setting on the 203? First Target Luminance, I have a Sony XBR 65X930C that is not calibrate with minor picture setting tweaks. Ok I read somewhere a while ago that my TV is 900-1000 peak nits, the tv is pretty bright! My question is do I need to set my tv to 1000 or do I leave it at default which I is 300? I was playing around with it last night, I don’t use my 203 often, I got it after the announcement it was going away. I got it for DV in the future as my current set does not support it. but anyhow in the meantime I would like the best PQ possible when I use this player. Everything else is set to auto except I also set it to UHD auto which I’m not clear on that also? Any tips or thoughts are appreciated thanks.

Isn't that an HDR display? Just leave HDR = On or Auto and ignore Traget Luminance. That is for displays that do not have HDR.

If everything is working for you with Auto then leave it at that. If you want to try the Custom Resolution setting then Output Resolution must be "Custom".

I've only had this problem with one disk on my 203; Dunkirk. Every time I tried it exactly the same spot. Amazon exchanged it and the new disk played perfectly, every time. I've heard of this problem several times on various forums with this disk.
