I can't stand the Chromecast since there is no remote. Not to mention it gets extremely hot.

Can anyone tell me if the 7502 will play BluRay BDMV folders and UHD BDMV folders with menus intact like my current Oppo203 does? I'm looking for an inexpensive option to play my backups from a USB drive like the Oppo allows me to. I've been reading that the Philips allows the same playback.
Can anyone confirm this?

It will not. The Oppo is the only one that does IIRC. Not sure where you read that about the 7502.

The oppo is an outlier. That is not normal behavior for a disc player.

Normal or not, it works great on the Oppo.🙄

I have the 7302 aka 7502 and recently got a Sony bravia 85in 850g. Cannot get Dolby Vision working. I see some references that Sony's DV implementation is problematic with many Blu-ray players. Is this what's causing me problems? And is it only Sony Blu-ray players that will work?

It doesn't support Sony's implementation of DV. You will need a Sony 700/800/800m2 or Panasonic 820/9000 player.

Sorry for being OT, but I see from your sig that you have the Panasonic, not the Sony. Any reason you went with Panasonic over the Sony?

The Panasonic automatically switches Dolby Vision on for Dolby Vision content. With the Sonys, you need to manually turn it on/off depending on whether the content is Dolby Vision.

Per pg 64 of the user manual (EN) the LAN connection is 10BASE-T / 100BASE-TX . WiFi is IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac.

So I'm having a crazy problem with my BDP7502 that I noticed somewhat recently. All my HDR10 films are being outputted to the TV in 4k, expanded color gamut and 24hz as they should. But it's outputting all my DV discs in just 1080p, 60hz and no expanded color! Does Anyone have a 7502 they could help corroborate for me? I tried the new 1917 4k and 2001 and neither work right!

Was DV working properly before? What is your equipment configuration?

Good questions. So I can't say if it was working before or not for sure. But I can say it updated to this firmware from day one and another update hasn't been released since. I never noticed earlier because all my first discs were HDR10 and were working without issue, then a bit later I got a DV disc popped it in and played it (the DV logo popped up on my LG Oled to notify at least that was working).

I wasn't floored by the way 1917 looked and I got up close and thought, man that doesn't look 4k, I hit the info button and sure enough the player was outputting 1080.

As for configurations, the screen is set to 16:9, the 24fps is set to auto, the color is set to 4:4:4, the screen resolution is set to auto (Setting it to 4k did NOT fix the issue), and HDR is set to auto.

Do you happen to have this player?

Maybe it's the 4:4:4 setting? You shouldn't need 4:4:4 for anything when dealing with video content, but I don't know for sure what that setting does, because sometimes it means something more than that.

I meant what TV/AVR are you using and how do you have the Philips connected?

Edit, never mind I see that you have an OLED. Just wanted to confirm that you have a compatible Dolby Vision TV and that you're not trying to pass through an AVR that doesn't pass DV. Are you going through an AVR and if so what AVR?

Try a hard power reset and if that doesn't help, try a factory reset.

Well it I changed it to the other settings to be certain but that didn't change anything. My suspicion is that it is actually an entire model wide phenomenon, I'm hoping someone has it and can confirm. Here are some screens of some examples (the info is gotten from hitting the "info" button on the bdp7502 remote).

The universal screen is the 1917 4k, the other two are obvious. The only hdr10 is mad max and you can see its outputting properly. And yes, I know some are menu screens, but the movies react the same.

I have an LG C9 and an Aventage 2060, both shouldn't have any issue. See the above pictures to see what I mean. I'm just hoping someone here has the same player because I suspect it's widespread and want to see if someone else can confirm it. I'm in talks with Philips now but you can imagine how slow that is.

Have you tried the power reset yet? I have mine connected to a Samsung currently and cannot test DV.

Yeah, I even did the full factory reset. No beans, I really don't think there's anything more to try.

Have you updated your AVR firmware? According to the 2060 owners thread, it originally shipped without DV pass through and needed a firmware update to pass through. I'm assuming that you are running the Philips through the AVR.

I have a feeling it's because the player is trying to output at 60hz. My OLED can not do Dolby Vision at 4K 60hz, so it will also display in 1080p for that refresh rate. However, the player sometimes drops it to 30hz, at least for streaming content when that streaming app doesn't support 24hz, like I believe the VUDU app on this player doesn't support 24hz output from what I can tell, at least in DV, so I get 30Hz there.

But you should ideally be getting 24Hz from a disc. So some setting is screwing up the 24hz output in DV mode.

I have 2001 on 4K disc and can check later this afternoon. I did play it when I first got the disc, and it played perfectly on my E6 using the Philips, but that was many months ago, and things may have changed.

Yes, the avr is up to date, plus when you hit the info button on the player it in fact shows output of 60hz a d 1080, so that is the sent signal before it even hits the avr and TV.

And yes, try your 2001 disc and then click info on the 4k player remote and let me know what the output says!

I take it all back, I went from the Philips directly to the LG and 4k, 24hz are fine. Sooo something is off the Yamaha, though it is on the latest 2.65 update which should have no problem with dolby vision.

Did you go into the Yamaha's advanced menu and set the 4k Mode to Mode 1?

I'm glad you've learned it isn't the player. My 7502 played 2001 in 4K/Dolby Vision with absolutely no problems.
