I'm curious. Where did you hear this? The HD Fury folks can't seem to confirm one way or the other. I suppose the Sony automatically engages it's conversion when told that HDR isn't compatible?

an owner on this thread unfortunately confirmed it. Apparently the Sony conversion only gives SDR 709.

HDFury have not to my knowledge found a solution to get u SDR BT 2020 unless you have later info. Do you?

From my comparison of the Oppo, Panasonic, and Sony, I believe Sony is remapping HDR Bt2020 to SDR BT709 but exaggerating colors. It gives the impression of a wider color space.

In your opinion, is the Sony remapping image solid, or looks artificial?

It's more exaggerated than the 709 color space on the blu ray equivalent. Some may like the look, others may find it artificial. Depends if you are used to a more accurate image or are used to colors that are a bit oversaturated. I also might be fine for some titles and not others.

SDR 2020 mapping is not an exact science, and neither is SDR 709 from HDR 2020. All of them are likely to vary a bit. Only time I used it was HDR strip on the Oppo (which was OK but needed work) and the Panny 900 + Fury. The Panny + Fury for SDR 2020 was quite good to my eyes.

Cables are 12'. I think I can reduce to 6' and make it, but I'll probably grab a couple of 10'ers also.

Very basic question to get out of the way - are you sure you are using the UHD Disc and not the BD by accident? It would help to know your equipment chain.

I'm using UNDERWORLD and Resident Evil. Both should be HDR. There are lot of options under screen menu.
What should I select under "Output Video Resolution" ? "Auto" ?

Cant get atmos and HDR no matter what I do. very frustrating

Does the 940D have the HDMI type setting where you have to turn it on for the panel to report itself capable and get HDR?

Yes. Some UHD BD titles put the UHD disc behind the UV insert for some reason. I've know I've accidentally put the 2K disc in a couple of times. Now I just put the UHD BD on the right side of the case whenever I run into a title like this. And put the 2K BD on the left where it should be.

Slow down and before putting the disc into the player, check and see if it says Ultra-HD on the disc itself and not just Blu-Ray.

If player shows its playing disc in SDR then TV settings don't matter.

update ok something very strange here.

I just put my new MAD MAX 4k disc and it shows HDR !!
Underworld and Resident Evil still shows SDR. Anyone here who has this 2 discs can confirm same ?
TV does matter, for example, if your tv doesn't support HDR then the player will downscale to only SDR, just as an example. Sounds like you are using the wrong discs cuz Mad Max is working fine.

Question. I don't see it listed on the main page but does this player support Sony's exclusive streaming service for their 4K streaming titles? I know their TVs do, but wondering if this does as well.
