Thank you. Just trying to clarify. So my Anthem will use A to D converters along with the crossover info in the Speaker Config (set up a new one for the Oppo) to get the LFE info necessary? Basically take the full signal from the Analog In from the Opp and send LFE info to the sub?

So guessing I know but I think we can rest assured they didn't manufacture say 800 so I would feel confident the number will turn out to be at least 1000 or more most likely, again guessing here. With the limited data we have gotten already we are getting an image, might be "Blurry" but an image is appearing regardless. Regardless of the outcome it may be interesting to see what we can compile here for nothing other than to know how may, with the data available, were lucky enough to land one of these units.

That certainly muddies the water as there seems to have been two different production runs, one in May and another in July.
Getting interesting!

What have I started.............................

In all seriousness if the standard manufacturing process was followed (Guessing) it looks like at least over 4500 units now? That is a LOT of new UDP-205 owners if that is the case. Now it is possible the numbers mean something else but..............................

Once I get mine out of the box I will add my information as well.

Doubtful they had 4500 units, I would say anywhere from 1000 to 1500. I say that based on previous inquiries from other members, including people who signed up around mid may stating they were thousands deep into the waiting list and had pretty much no chance of getting one. I even question if Oppo was ever able to fulfill past April's requests.

I tend to think that there are inconsistencies in the order of when units are received by OPPO USA and when they are shipped out.

To wit my first 2 defective units
The 1st one I got was mfg may 2017 # 9735
The 2nd one was mfg in april 2017 cant find serial# at the moment

Question why would unit 1 be mfg may 2017 and unit 2 april 2017?

Sorry to have muddied up the waters.....

I've been playing around with MQA files on the 205, via CD (Rebecca Pidgeon) and on a USB drive downloaded from this site:
http://www.2l.no/hires/index.html
And it works like it should, info from the 205 shows MQA being played.

But when I try to rip the same CD (Rebecca Pidgeon) uncompressed to either WAV or FLAC, to a USB drive, it doesn't work... no MQA from the 205.

Anyone else had any luck ripping MQA CDs?

I used dBpoweramp's CD Ripper app. on Windows 10 Pro.

You can assume that a round number was manufactured in July (500 - 1000 - 2000 etc), so it's just a matter of collecting enough samples within a range to validate an educated guess.

With just two serial numbers reported we know the spread is at least 354.

So with this VERY limited data one can make an assumption that at least 500 were manufactured.
Obviously more data is needed to validate a better guesstimate but it's a start.

Good luck trying to figure this out. Mine was shipped on 9-17, and it's several hundred Before CygnusX2112's serial number.

Hi all. Just got my 205 the other day and as I don't have a $K TV yet, I'm trying to get it to work as a USB DAC, and having nu success. I have downloaded the latest general firmware, and the USB DAC input firmware installer, or whatever it's called, but for some reason I can't get it to run.

I'm on a 2013 Macbook Pro, and I just" upgraded" to OS Mojave. I'm not that great with Macs, so I'm probably missing something. If anyone can help without suggesting I read the whole thread, I'd appreciate it very much.

You're going to need to be more descriptive than "I can't get it to run" to give us some hints as to what you've tried - exactly how things are connected, what software you're using on the Mac, how you have your audio output settings configured on the Mac, whether you've selected the USB DAC input on the Oppo and so on. For starters, make sure you're connecting the USB cable to the USB DAC input on the Oppo (the square connector, not one of the rectangular USB inputs meant for external USB drives) and have selected the USB DAC input using the Input button on the Oppo remote. I won't be of any assistance on the Mac side as I'm a Windows user; I haven't touched a Mac since the original ones back in the mid-late eighties .

Thanks for the reply. I will get back to you this evening. The Mac is only connected for the purpose of downloading the firmware. It acts as the controller for the Bryston BDP3.
More this evening when I have time. thanks again!

Something interesting here:

Your unit manufactured in may last 4 # 1735
My unit also manufactured in may last 4 8755 the difference here appears to be 7020....manufactured in may just by these 2 numbers.

Perhaps a ball park number of units manufactured in may 2018....There well may be lower last 4 serial # and higher last 4 serial #s
Could the OPPO manufacturing plant produce this many BDP 205 players in a 1 month production time frame? Considering all that goes into
building 1 unit.

Just a .02 cent thought for pondering on

It could be that there are not enough data points or sets yet to from a clearer picture. It would be very helpful if all the responders to OPPO's
invitation would share their information : month year of manufacture, last 4 of serial # date shipped or rec'd
please continue to contribute...could help answer some questions.

Thanks everyone!

Perhaps you could volunteer to accept this information via PM and present us with the results after the final collation?

Excellent idea, thank you! This being the 205 "owners" thread not the "serial number" thread. It would best if the discussion was via PM or a new "serial number" thread be started by those interested. The discussion of serial numbers only bogs this thread down for new and current 205 owners seeking information.

When you add to cart. Add an insane quantity like 1000 and then update cart totals. Their error handling system then tell you the maximum quantity and if you would like to update to that amount

Subscribing to this thread has become tiresome for people who already own units. I want to know about features and updates on the units themselves not on the availability and logistics of acquiring one. Perhaps a new thread needs to be formed? If this is normal for these kind of threads then no big deal and I will kindly unfollow.

Hey guys apologies for clogging up the thread, as I represent a large commercial manufacturer in my “Day job” I was just making mention of how someone may be able to glean an estimated amount of units. It was certainly not my intention to create additional (uninteresting to some) posts related to serial numbers/quantities.

Aside from that hoping to get some “Install” time this weekend and give this unit some love.

Thanks,

Subscribing to this thread has become tiresome for people who already own units. I want to know about features and updates on the units themselves not on the availability and logistics of acquiring one. Perhaps a new thread needs to be formed? If this is normal for these kind of threads then no big deal and I will kindly unfollow.

Greg
I agree. A new thread should be started for that discussion. If a new thread is not started the discussion of estimated units available, produced and serial numbers is more pertinent to the "Oppo to stop production? This is not a joke." thread IMO.

I TOLD everyone here and at the SH forums that I thought it was in the HUNDREDS, not thousands. My last four, and I got one of the June '1st allotment ' is 1729
